Work in progress

I’m still in a 70s fusion mood.
just got a jazz bass and attempted to lay down some funk.
thought I’d post this looking for feedback I’m lost as to where I should take this tune.
I also just got a 2021 epiphone les Paul 60s standard. Got it at a thrift store of all places.
I’ve also got a Gibson and if anyone is doubting the quality of the inspired by Gibson epiphones, don’t fret they are freaking great. This thing plays as good as my Gibson, they feel damn near identical

  • 70s fusion mood. Me too! Great guitar playing. I like how you layer the guitar parts. Each one is unique. You’re looking for feedback? If you want my input, here’s what I’m thinking. In my headphones it sounds like you’re using a noise gate or something. It has a pumping feel that took my attention away from the music. I love the break at 2:00! The only other thing I would do would be to add more drums. Maybe a different percussion loop with each guitar part. Maybe bring them up a bit. Just a bit more variety in the drums to compliment the guitar playing. Great track. I hope you post the final mix.

What’s up with the last section? Maybe it’s my headphones, but it sounded silent after 3:30.

  • The silent part is where I ran out of ideas, lol.
I’m using audio evolution, midi editing is not super fun on it. I’m going to try and find some drum fill midi clips to help spice up the drums. Any good source for fills.
Thanks for the suggestions and feedback much appreciated

That's happened to me, as well. There is an app from SugarBytes called 'DrumComputer' that might be helpful. It has a huge number of MIDI sequences that you can edit, and a lot of assorted drum kits. I have used it quite a bit. I think it's currently free. Can't beat the price!

  • I love a bit of 70s fusion so I thoroughly enjoyed it. If anything I preferred the ‘slightly’ slower sections to the out and out shredding (which is rich coming from me 😊) but the guitar playing was great… I need to go and practice my GeoShredding now 😢
No real suggestions , not sure it needs to be any longer, perhaps more light and shade, loud and soft etc ?

  • Fusion jams are always like 7 plus minutes, without other musicians adding their flare, it’s hard to keep the jam going by myself.
Maybe I should try hardcore fusion and make every jam less than 2 minutes.

Thanks for Listening guys. Have a great holiday weekend
