only one physical pad for multiple random samples: any idea?

First, thanks to all of you! When I'm looking for help on Google, I often come across this place, so I've just registered on Audiobus, here is my first post :)

Here is my problem: I have a virtual percussion to play with my foot (while I play at the same time synth or guitar), I have several files/samples of this percussion (different hits of the same percussion for more natural feeling). I would like to launch these hits (1 at a time) via a pedal (MIDI) on the floor. Only one button, so only one impulse:

one press on the midi pedal = one random sample (random mode among the files/samples I have)

I tried with Koala, I can assign one physical pad (nanoPad2) per sample, but I can't assign different samples on Koala within the same physical pad (nanoPad2), only one pad per sample (so 8 samples = 8 pads). And it doesn't seem to me that there is a random function in Koala.

I hope my explanation is clear enough...
I pass everything through AUM.

Optional question: for this operation I have a sustain pedal for midi keyboard, with a jack connector. Ideally, I would like to have the same thing with a USB connector, and have it recognized in AUM as a MIDI controller. Is there a simple pedal with a USB connection?
Currently I have plugged my jack pedal into my padKONTROL (there is a "pedal" jack input) and connected my padKONTROL to my iPad through USB, and it works fine, but it's cumbersome and a step too many. If there is a USB pedal I would be happy...

  • I suspect mozaic can do it. Not too much of an investment and pretty flexible. Did a quick search on patch storage and think this might work:

I would have a look at Mozaic: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/mozaic-plugin-workshop/id1457962653
And have a look at it's Patchstorage repository: https://patchstorage.com/platform/mozaic/
Even if you are not a coder and do not want to write scripts yourself, there are quite a few scripts that might be of help.

  • This mozaic script explicitly adds round robin (including random) to koala :)

  • If your pad can output note data, any round robin sample player could do this . Also, Audio Layer or DrumPerfectPro will give you different samples for the same MIDI note trigger based on velocity.

There isn’t much demand for midi sustain pedals that can only connect to a usb port. I haven’t seen a sustain pedal with usb port that sends midi. I use my Blueboard to get sustain/expression pedal info to my iPad. There is a device I saw a few years ago that was just for converting sustain or expression pedals to Bluetooth midi but it was more expensive as a Blueboard

YES! Thanks all of you! I tried with Eucalyptus, the video linked in the page show exactly what I wanted! (the only missing information was the mapping, but I could figured out! (yes, I'ma noob, but not that much  )
