Hexaglyphics: is the writing on the wall? Update: no, it still does the job like nothing else.
I have zero reason for having three iPads, or at least thought I did until yesterday.
Last night, two of them, each dating from within the last 1-5 years, and each fully up-to-date , would barely let Hexaglyphics stutter out one last dying word before killing it unceremoniously. Whether running it standalone, or in AUM, or AB or in ApeMatrix (which is the best, but that's digression.)
But I have an iPad mini that is a couple of updates behind, and it still hosts Hex-o graciously and without complaint. Suppose hexaglyphics' problem is the iOS updates, what are the odds that is a problem that will be addressed? Small I would think.
Do I keep a 6th gen iPad mini in its backward state to act as a nearly-dedicated Hexaglyphics box? For now: yes, no question. As long as KB-1 keyboard and a few other things I like to run on it launch and stay launched.
Hexaglyphics just clicks with me, but usually because I always forget how to latch it. Ha ha

Such a dope IDm glitch maker. I don't update my oldest iPad for this and a few others like rebirth etc.
I kind of really miss rebirth myself, although I probably wouldn't use it anymore because of how tedious it was to program. Hexaglyphics, however can be done in one's sleep and possibly even after one's death, so elemental is it.
Update: I'm beginning to think that the crashes were owing to low battery on both of the offending iPads, and some resulting system process that took Hex down, because it seems to run fine today, with the only noticeable difference being fully charged batteries. I hope that's right, I would hate to see it go...
Maybe change the thread title to reflect that 😂 👍
Good idea. I don''t want to prematurely announce its demise. Although it has been crashy again, so the battery level as the culprit..... Maybe, or maybe only partly so...
BTW, you've got a great YT channel, Gavinski, I enjoy it greatly.
Cheers!
Such a great app. I’d love to see the dev update it to AUV3.
This looks very cool btw - but seems the email address on the website ([email protected] ??) is not working. Anyone been in touch with the dev recently?
tip:
for fxing it
it wont load in AUM
but it still does in Audiobus...:)
It loaded in aum for me just now, after opening standalone first.
gav:
sweet
not here:(
All this talk about it not working prompted me to fire it up to check. Like most IAA apps, it seems necessary to open first in standalone, then in AUM. Not been updated for seven years, but it worked fine for me, thankfully (IOS 16.1.1.) I had forgotten how great it is, and immediately felt compelled to use it to create a Hexaglyphics-as the-only-instrument piece. There went the morning.
Up now in Creations, if anyone fancies checking it out. It’s called A Hex. Well, obviously it is.
Still, it must by now be swirling round the Apple Next Update of Doom, along with all the other cool, crazy IAA apps now consigned to the sewer of history, so enjoy it while you still can, I guess.
I bloody hate Apple.
