GE Labs shutting down!

Whenever I load a music player this app just closes?
I have the play in background option selected and it works fine minimised just doesn’t like anything else playing audio?
Emailed Mooer ‘again’ as they believe there is no issue despite happening on all my iOS devices
I appreciate this app doesn’t work in audiobus but merely loading it should cause this?
Thanks

Hi. Generally, music apps like GE Labs are not allowed to process sound from music players or phone apps. This is both for security and protection of copyright material. So the system may be booting GE Labs out to protect the audio. If this used to work, it might have been changed by a system update; what iOS versions are you on? If it has never worked, welcome to iOS.

I like to use apps like GE Labs on an iPhone and treat it like a hardware module that can be patched into the iPad environment. Once the output is converted to Audio you can freely use it for recording.

I wonder if we will see the day when we can just mix our apps with the usual closed systems like iTunes, YouTube, etc.

As I listen to Apple Music I consistently have the desire to change the EQ or add more space for my mix. Ah well… using an iPhone as a sound module works for this too.

For anyone new to GE Labs: It’s completely free with IAP’s to own “user preset/config” slots. There’s a cloud site for downloading the rigs of other users.

  • I use a number of amp sims and this is the only one that shuts down!
Can’t run through audiobus as it doesn’t recognise it.
Maybe it could work in AUM where it’s recognised along with a music player?

    It’s never worked 🙄
But every other app like BiasFx etc work fine 🤷🏼‍♂️

I just tried it in AUM on my iphone 8 plus running current ios. I was able to use the file player to play a wave file and used GE labs in the effect slot and it works. However the DSP consumption 70% is problematic for my phone.

Thanks. Looks like I’ll have to get AUM
However does it crash like on mine just running it in the background with the standard music player?

Not sure what you mean by stardard music player but yes it works in the background in AUM, but it seems you to first load the file player in AUM then load GE Labs or else GE will buzz and stop playing in the background. But works if I use the order I mentioned earlier. I just tested this again to verify and it still works. However imho GE Labs is the worst performing Amp sim I have used as far as CPU performance and stability.

Ignoring AUM just GE Labs in background, can you play an audio file in apples Music player?

The AUM file player plays files that you own on your device: mp3, wav, etc. It cannot play copy-protected files, or internet streams. So AUM will not likely affect your experience.

Are you trying to play protected music through GE Labs, or do you just want to keep GE Labs loaded while using a music player? Note that there won't likely be any mixing of audio at the audio output; you'll hear either music or GE Labs, whichever wins.

No if you use GE labs and Apple Music app only one that is in focus can play on my phone.

So it’s a GE Labs fault as it’s the only sim app that does this 🙄
