BTle Foot controllers...what's the latest?
So, I made the cardinal error of leaving the batteries in my iRig Blueboard and of course they leaked haha! It's been sitting in the draw out of sight for months!
I've been reading that IK have not really kept it's firmware up to date, so I'll not buy another one, hence the OP - what are the latest offerings?
I need to send MIDI CC messages (in particular to the Lumbeat drum apps).
Looked at some from Airturn and they look promising - anything else of note?
I have seen a few online so this is more asking for opinions from folks who own them really.
Thanks

Off to check my BlueBoard batteries! BRB.
UPDATE: Mine lit right up… but I’ll be recycling those batteries and re-load it when I finally watch @michael’s video using the BlueBoard with Loopy Pro.
Live Looping was where I rep-entered music making back in 2015 but I was sidetracked into buying IOS apps. I guess I’d rather buy something new than do the work.
In what meaningful way hasn’t the BlueBoard firmware been updated?
I too am not aware of any problems with BlueBoard firmware.
I surveyed Bluetooth options on Amazon and couldn’t find anything that would make me toss the BlueBoard out. Battery support is great and converting from PC to CC to MIDI Notes is really trivial with
Mozaic or StreamByter… you just need to ask and someone will write or type in the script to make it work.
You probably already know this but you can also power on the BBoard while holding down the B button for notes or the C button for CCs. No good if you need to switch on the fly, but I'm just putting it out there for information completeness.
I'm a big fan of the M-Vave Chocolate. Very small and neat 4 footswitch controller, rechargeable battery powered bluetooth. Very configurable via Cubesuite app. Expression pedal input. Cheap.
I also have an Airturn 6 button, rock solid, but no expression pedal input. Also an Xsonic Airstep which I got very cheaply, if I paid full price for it I'd be gutted (intermittent connection issues and an inexplicably steppy expression pedal input).
Thanks all - yes the latest Airturn 6 has two inputs now for extra pedals. Good to know though that folks here are doing ok with theirs. Truth is I'd probs just stick with it if it still fired up and not bother with a replacement but needs must and all that
I'll have a look at the M-Wave
Give it another go at scraping the contacts.
thx - yep already tried that...it leaked under to the PCBs...not sure I can be bothered to remove the soft padding on the bottom to open it up - especially when the Airturn is under $150 and looks a lot more solid than the Blueboard...anyhoo I'm still investigating
Recently picked up one of these to use with Quantiloop + Loopy Pro.. I already had all the extra footswitchs to expand its capabilities.. totally happy with it..
The iOS app works perfectly to change MIDI CC/PC numbers as well as the HID keycode and indicator colors.

Some people on the Loopy Pro discord seem to think the M Vave Chocolate is a nice unit — and it is dirt cheap. I can’t personally vouch for it, but it might be worth looking into.
I'm think I'm gonna have to order an M Vave unless someone reports a significant downside. I've never been a big fan of the BlueBoard switches. I like the idea of stomp box style clicky switches.
$18.99 seems too good to be true. Way cheaper than I could build one.
18.99? Where?
Yeah agree...it's why I paused before just going and buying it, sorta like "suck it and see". Is it TOO cheap?
Wal-Mart online. (USA)
Long time user of M Vave Chocolate, and it have connection issues very often. May be ok at home, but on the gig may lose connection on the second song.
Does anyone know of a foot controller that has both wired and BT connectivity? It sure would be nice to have the option to not rely on wireless in a live situation, while not having to work with different controllers.
Thanks. That's good info. Do you know if the BlueBoard has similar issues. I can see how it could in a live setting with so many other devices around and Murphy's Law in full effect.
@wim the Boss FS-1-WL has a TRS MIDI out too.. also part of the reason I got it..
EDIT: Of course it has USB MIDI as well..
Nice. Thanks @royor.
I have it and it works well and the editor has a surprising amount of options. It apparently can be used wired too which would take care of the presumed connectivity issues. I never had them but wouldn’t sacrifice my firstborn to prove it as this is very cheap and who knows what animal parts they’re using to make it.
The only possible downside may be the spacing of switches and the size of the unit. I was very surprised when I opened the box as the unit is tiny, although is heavy enough not to dance around the room. I think the size is small because it was designed to be fitted as a part of a pedalboard.
I think, at this price you could do worse than ordering one and seeing for yourself as other peoples opinions on the internet can be misleading 😉
I found it to be better than blueboard although perhaps Blueboard wins on silent operation front.
Yeh, gotta try it. Thanks @supadom
Re m-vave choocolate
The cubesuite app can be a little confusing at first (the expression pedal on the device goes backwards by default, so you’ll need to tackle that), but like @supadom says you can configure it to do a whole load of different things. I think your midi experience will see you through.
Firmware updating can be a bit baffling (I borrowed an old android phone to do it), but all stable since. It also auto-reconnects to the last paired Bluetooth device, so if you want to connect to another you have to first turn Bluetooth off on the original device.
The most telling thing I learnt is that ‘visual behaviour’ (on or off) is the setting that determines whether a switch is momentary or toggle.
If that all sounds a bit of a hassle, in practice it’s not, just some initial setup process.
I don’t have an M-Vave yet but supposedly you can send Midi out of the USB C port which is how I plan on using it (on a gig at least) when it arrives.
The Boss EV-1-WL is like the FS-1-WL except it is built around an expression pedal instead of three switches.
A fairly unique feature of both of these pedals is that they can operate in two BLE modes: as host, for connecting to instruments, and as peripheral, for connecting to mobile devices, and can even be connected to both at once, e.g., if programming on an iPhone while connected to an instrument.
