Evolve
@LinearLineman This is the one I was talking about. I created several 32-measure parts and arranged them in Cubasis in a descending stairstep pattern. Each track is offset by 8 measures. The idea is that the song evolves over time. That was my theory, at least. Once I put it all together, it was much too long, so I edited out several minutes and returned to the opening tracks for the ending. There is probably an official name for this technique, but I don't know it. It's not as good as I had hoped for. Oh well.

Very interesting way to put a project together.
Truly, an evolutionary creation.
Enjoying the creativity!
I have been trying to come up with something different lately. It’s not that easy. I’m experimenting with construction techniques. This one didn’t turn out as I had hoped, but what the heck. I’ll keep at it until I find something new. Thank you for the encouraging words and taking time to listen. Have a great weekend, my friend.
Well, I quite like it! It is indeed an interesting way to compose - like a building block approach. I guess something similar could also be done in Loopy Pro too.
@AlterEgo_UK Exactly! Loopy would be ideal for this, but I am hooked on Cubasis 2. I never upgraded. I like the building block approach. I think the trick is to use a lot of small blocks. I used 32 measure blocks for this, and that was probably too long. I’ll try something different next time. Thank you, Colin, for listening and weighing in. Have a great weekend!
I enjoyed this. Nice to read about the creative process behind it too.
Really like this @Paulieworld
@rollin @Edward_Alexander @LinearLineman Thank you, gentlemen! I think I could have done better, but it is what it is. I still think the concept has merit, but I could have used some better material.
Circulinear… that could be a “thing”.
Well whatever it is it sounds good. Don't take this the wrong way but its kind of like building music from the 'live loop' blocks in Garageband. Find elements that work well together, introduce them periodically, loop them, then wrap things up nicely at the end. I believe 'cool beans' is a forum appropriate summary.
That's a beautiful track! Nice groove, pads and chords and a very nice arrangement.
You think you could've done better?
Nope. But certainly more of it 😉
Thanks! I like "Cool Beans". I think I first heard that term from Doug on the @thesoundtestroom. I say it all the time, now.
I think I was just expecting something different when I started. I'm sure I will keep using that technique, but try to put a different spin on it. Thank you for listening and your comment!
