Rolling Sampler

I love having this on my master bus in my desktop DAWS:

I wish something like it existed on iOS. Reached out to the developer about an iOS port but didn't hear back. I know this can be done in other apps like Loopy and possibly Drambo but really like how this is focused on one thing alone and features like drag and drop make it very convenient to use. Almost feels like this should be a standard feature in DAWs.

  • Not exactly the same thing but…Loopy Pro???

  • i loveeee this thing. its on my Master in every template, as opposed to having a dedicated resample track. so much easier. Plus the benefit of capturing happy accidents

  • +1 for iOS!

  • I think once the majority of iOS/iPadOS hosts properly support drag'n'drop between an AUv3 Plug-In and 'The DAW/Host' this might be worth to consider.

Even if some AUv3's support Drag'n'Drop 'export' very few hosts accept the dragged content as audio and dragging from a host to an AUv3 plug-in is also still quite rare.

We'll have to wait and see where things go...

  • without the drag and drop functionality though!

So the ios api already makes it possible and it’s just on the devs to implement it?

    Yes, it can be done...
...it's all up to the host how it handles drag'n'drop!
(ie. If for example Cubasis allowed Drah'n'Drop of Audio Events from the time-line we could drag an audio-event to a pad in Koala or the Samplers in Drambo. From Drambo we can already 'Drag Out' files but Cubasis only accepts Dragged items from Files.app as far as I've tested).

As long as developers stick to using frameworks (JUCE etc.) that still lack implementation and support for iOS/iPadOS features I think we'll have to wait for quite some time.

Time will tell where things go...

  • Ahhh, I knew you could drag system files in an auv3 but I wasn’t sure if that might’ve been the limit. 😎😎

Yeah, you can for example drag a sample from Drambo AUv3 to Koala AUv3 when both are hosted inside AUM.
You can also drag a sample from Drambo to Cubasis time-line but you can NOT drag from Cubasis time-line to Drambo because Cubasis does not support Drag'n'Drop from the time-line, only to the time-line.

Once more DAWs adopt drag'n'drop export things will be a bit smoother with drag to AUv3 samplers etc.
(Dragging from AUv3 -> Daw Time-Line works in both Cubasis and Logic Pro for iPad but not from time-line to AUv3).
