Heddphone worth it?
I’ll never buy this but curious if it’s up to the hype.

And it is vegan (in case you ever need to eat it).
😂
Of course, I am rising to the bait, but I feel compelled to point out that veganism isn’t a “diet”.
Don’t worry - I am fully aware that it’s still completely acceptable to publicly humiliate and mock people for choosing to live in a way that minimises suffering wherever possible, but it’s bullshit, and I’m calling you on it.
Let the onslaught begin. Pun half intended…
while the open invite is tempting, i have a legit question.
can anything that uses plastic be vegan? the suffering doesnt happen up front but the entire planet suffers as a result of the product
I’ll assume that you’re not referring to stearic acid which is an animal derived substance sometimes found in plastic, but just referring to plastic in general? Am I correct in that assumption?
And if so, and it really is a legit question, then do you mean you are vegan and you struggle with the ethical implications of using plastic because yes, the planet suffers as a result of its use? Or, as I suspect, are you just saying ‘everything has an impact so we may as well just do nothing’?
Legit question back: do you use plastic? And if so, are you in any real position to challenge me about my use of plastic?
Haha, this sure is going towards the drains.
If those Heddphones don’t give you the truest reproduction of sound at that price I don’t know what will.
the question was a general question about plastic, not its contents.
but i do like how i said i was backing down from the open ended invite to a fight, positioned it as a legit question so not to be misunderstood, and you still feel you were challenged. pretty rad.
Chill people.. you can actually have non vegan things as a vegan, the aim is to eradicate such things.
Example.. some vaccines etc. If you don’t actually have a choice, well.. its stupid if all the vegans die innit?
Not using a bicycle as components use release agents.. it also doesn’t happen. Vegans know this.
Pretty sure the vegan society uses the term “as far as reasonably practical”.
Those headphones do look quite tasty though. Out of my budget sadly.
Wtf! But as long as we’re on the subject, my late wife was a total oil free vegan for a decade. I cannot know for sure, but I strongly suspect her puritanical avoidance of all animal protein and oils starved her brain of much needed nutrients and led to her early onset and rapid decline of Alzheimer’s. Both her parents had dementia, but at a much later age. Of course, I’ll never know one way or the other.
Like so many ironies, Cynthia was only trying to keep her cholesterol down… another specious theory. I am not against any particular diet, but extremes can lead to extreme results.
Who wouldn’t want to give $1800 headphones a 4 hour test drive? They also make studio monitors that I’m sure many would like to test drive for a week or 2. But at the end of these tests I’m sure you would need a solid business revenue stream to justify the cost when products at 10-25% are more that good enough to produce quality mixes.
Still… product acquisition can make for good goal targets.
Some good reviews over on head-fi. Based on the graph it looks pretty neutral which would work well for music production but may lack dynamics and bass for the enjoyment for listening to music

They advertise it as a production tool.
They are also pitching it towards audiophiles. I guess they know the two potential markets who might want to chase the golden egg and are willing to pay generously to be on the journey.
Honestly I’d recommend buying 200$ headphones and taking the other 1600 and going to see an audiologist (for once) to help preserve what’s left of your hearing. Then ask yourself if comical price tags of super redefined audio is gonna be wasted on you and your built in 12khz cutoff (at most of our ages). They are wasted on me.
.. double post ..
Or...the $1,600 left over would buy a lot of burgers.![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smiley.png)
If they sound anything like the better (vintage) Stax electrostats then I'm sure they're worth a listen!
If you’re a hobbyist I can’t imagine that Heddphone wil make a difference and is worth it. For years people mixed without these cans and the result has always been acceptable. About the vegan claim, it’s relevant nowadays. Everyone is free to make his own choices but I think it’s damn difficult to really stick to your principles (if you got them).
Or a few Kobe burgers
The problem with veganism is that the lack of protein in their diet can make some vegans lose their sense of humour.
The lack of meat means the "yuk yuk cells" in the brain don't get the required nourishment. The cells wither and become bitter. Luckily it doesn't affect all vegans.
@simon… I thought you wrote “virgins”
It would be interesting to hear what they sound like. It’s going to depend a lot on your own sound perception levels. A few years ago I needed to buy a pair of headphones for live sound duties. Overall, any pair of cans with the right impedance level will do the basic job, but as I went through the different levels of Sennheisers available to me at the time the sound improved noticeably as the price level increased. Until I had to stop before I went way over my budget.
If the quality and accuracy of the sound you are listening to matters then you get what you find is the best for you and that hopefully becomes independent of price. But, the price shouldn’t be the first thing in that determination unless you are on a strict budget.
Personally, for example, I find there is a noticeable difference between the output of a pair of $500 Yamaha speakers and a pair of $2000 Neumann speakers. I could still do the job with the Yamaha pair, but I’m going to feel a lot more comfortable and find the experience much more enjoyable using the Neumann monitors.
Knowing the reputation of HEDD ( I’m seriously considering acquiring a pair of their monitors in the near future ) I would be inclined to think that these phones would be rather nice to use as well.
Well, yes, virgins can have a low sense of humour due to a lack of, er, meat.![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smiley.png)
I think I can hear the pitter patter of little doggie paws - Watson approaching... I better shut up now.
I’m totally on board. I’m very glad they’re not killing the baby naugas for their hides!
These are the best cans I've heard under $300. And that price is amazing.
