iRig Keys I/O 25 MIDI channel assignment in Audiobus
Hello,
I just got an iRig Keys I/O 25 for live purposes and have been trying to set it up in Audiobus so that I can play a sound (let's say Heavy Brass) with the keys and SampleTank drums with the pads.
I set the keyboard channel to 1 and the pads channel to 2 on the iRig Keys, chose the iRig Chan 1 for Heavy Brass and iRig Chan 2 for Sampletank as the inputs in Audiobus but both apps play on both the keyboard and pads. I even tried Virtual MIDI Bridge on the inputs, MidiFlow Channels on Effect inserts but nothing changed.
I also tried different MIDI channel settings in the apps, in vain.
Is there a way I can split these apps and assign them separately to the keys and pads?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Could you please post a screenshot of the Audiobus MIDI screen, showing how you've routed the inputs to the apps?
Also a screenshot like this one, showing the available System MIDI inputs when the iRig Keys is connected.
We'll be able to analyze your problem better with that data.
The first thing to test is what these apps do if Audiobus is not in use. Some IAA listen directly to the connected hardware.
Hello,
Thank you very much for your quick replies, really appreciated. I kept searching in the meantime and made a small step forward. I reset the iRig Keys factory settings and set the MIDI settings once again. It seems that the keyboard MIDI channel was still set to Global, which by default must be sending from both keys and pads on the same channel.
I can now have Heavy Brass only assigned to the keys. The SampleTank drums still sound on the keys as well, but not when I'm in Live mode, in which case I can choose the MIDI channel for each track in the multi. The issue now is how to assign the sounds to each pad, but this is something I will investigate tomorrow (expect new questions soon... sorry).
Here are the screenshots of the MIDI screen and input settings. Any setup suggestion or tip would be great, as I'm quite a newbie here.
Thanks a lot.
@Altamama : i believe that sampletank will listen to your keyboard even without audiobus. you need to set it up to to ignore channel 1 otherwise it will respond to what you play on channel 1 on your keyboard no matter what Audiobus does.
Also, you should be able to load Heavy Brass as AUv3, from the Audio Units menu, instead of the Apps menu. That should let Audiobus control it more reliably. It will also let Audiobus save its state as part of an Audiobus preset.
Unfortunately, SampleTank only supports Inter-App Audio (IAA). That means it's working as a separate app, so it may respond to various MIDI sources. See if it lets you specify the MIDI source, not just the channel.
@espiegel123 there is no midi channel setting in the SampleTank global settings so I guess that’s where the issue comes from. I will look for other compatible apps (any suggestions )
Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply.
I just took another look at SampleTank. As far as I can tell, it only pays attention to midi channels in live mode. Otherwise it responds to any midi device on any channel attached to your iPad.
