AUV3 Midi Controller App?
Hi guys, first time poster, so forgive me if i ask something really common (maybe?)
i would like to wirelessly control Aum from another ios device, mainly to switch on/off effects, mute/unmute and at best be able to control mixes.
Now: i found Xequence to be able to send NOTES, that are renamable and gives the ability to change color or number and size of buttons.
All works fine, except for one thing. Pads do not "stay on". So i have no visual clues on how to find out whether the effect is on or off.
What app do you suggest to achieve this? Something like a guitar pedalboard, where the buttons stays lit as long as it is pressed and lits out when pressed again.
Thanks again!

Welcome.
Do you want to be able to see it on the second device being used to control the first or the main device?
If it’s the main device that’s not difficult since you can set up midi to toggle the audio fx on and off so they would be in the fx chain if on, and slightly to the left of the chain if off. You can also set 1 parameter to be viewed outside of the fx, so you could set midi to toggle the on/off button and the little node next to the effect will be filled in white when on, and empty when off.
If you want to see it on the second device the controller device, I’m thinking there might be a Mozaic script which will allow you to toggle any midi cc or note on/note off to directly turn an audio fx on and off, but I’d have to look that up to be sure.
Also if you know how long you want the effect to be on and off you could use something like CC bud by @cem_olcay or any lfo really with a square wave, maybe mLFO since it’s really packed with options.
I know there’s some other solutions available but can’t think off the top of my head.
It sounds like you need mozaic.
@steponme - unfortunately there's no simple answer for this. Connecting the two devices wireless is easy using Bluetooth Midi. So we can set that part aside for now.
Sorry, but Xequence Pads isn't going to work for what you want. It can trigger Midi notes and CC's but the pads can't be set to stay on as you need them to. (hey @SevenSystems - latch-able pads would be a cool feature!)
There are a number of ways to control AUM from another device. TouchOSC is an app in which you can build custom control surfaces with knobs, buttons, and faders that can send Midi to AUM to control it. Midi Designer Pro 2 is another. Even the amazing Loopy Pro can be used for this.
The problem comes with keeping things in sync. AUM doesn't have two-way communication for its settings. You can send midi to control something like an AUM fader, but the fader doesn't send anything back to indicate its position. So, you're pretty much OK if you only ever control things from the controller app. But if you make a change in AUM itself, that change will not be reflected in the controller. Also, even if you have your nice faders and knobs in sync by not touching anything in AUM, they will all be out of sync when you load a new AUM session.
If your head isn't spinning too much by now, I'll add one more thing. There's a Mozaic script that can help a little with this problem. Basically you send all your midi commands through the script, and from there to control things. The script keeps track of the last value of each control and saves that with the AUM session. When you reload the session, it sends out all those midi values both to AUM and to the controller app. So, at that point everything is in sync, and as long as you make all changes in the controller app rather than AUM it should stay that way.
Sorry. Seems like a simple thing to ask, but the answer isn't simple at all. These challenges aren't specific to iOS. They're common to all problems when trying to control things over MIDI.
Thanks guys for all the effort in the answers, really really helpful.
I strongly believe the full software route. And mainly because of all of you giving me great tips
Maybe this app can do what you're looking for.

I've only used it inside one ipad. It has option to toggle the pads, etc.

Hi guys, update. I just bought Midi Controller App. Plain.
Not AUV3, but who cares? The wireless device that has this installed is seen by the host device in AUM (wireless, usb or bluetooth)
So no need to worry. Faders sliders toggles and so on. All quick and easy to do!
