Midi out to regular midi on ipad

I’ve been searching google. I’m having a hard time getting a Sufi notice answer. Is it possible to send midi out from an app on an iPad to a regular midi input on a keyboard? Not a usb midi . Just midi din.
I think I need a camera usb kit for the iPad but that’s all I
can see so far. Thanks

Yes but you need a midi or audio/midi interface. You can get a specific device made for iPad, or a general interface. There are lots of them but something like a focusrite Scarlett 2 channel or Presonus 2 channel, what I have, will work and give you some options for other uses. I like a min of 2, inputs so I can do at least mic and instrument at once. But that’s totally up to you. There’s several great YouTube videos out there, and seems to be one of the best resources for iOS music making in general. The first video might be the best for your specific request. Good luck.

Quick Tip. Also for Camers Connection Kit I strongly recommend the one with the charging port, and the official apple one, nothing else. There are a million generics of varying quality but for this connection I only get the official apple one. Either straight from the Apple store, in a reputable big box store that carries apple products, or the Apple website. Amazon has thousands that try to very, very hard to pretend they are the official apple CCK, but are not.

  • This and the usb adapter

  • Make sure to do due diligence on any adapters. Some of the cheap USB to DIN MIDI adapters have strange limitations or break quickly.

I'd only buy something for which there a lot ratings/reviews and where those ratings are overwhelmingly positive.
