edited April 2023 in Hardware

It’s like a really cool field recorder… I can do the same with my iPhone and Koala, but this still looks fun! 😂
Polyend Tracker Mini will be available soon for $699/699€.

    Some more clips…

  • Yeah they’ll sell out before I try to get one

Portable, yes. Expensive, yes. Better than an iPad, not at all.

Would be worth it at $299. At $699, I think I'd keep waiting for a Push 3.

Also, Digitakt is $899 and MPC One is $799, last I checked.

I like the size and feature set OG Tracker which I have.

    I concur, $299 maybe.
iPhone or iPad workflow can do the same and much much more!

  • Hrmmm i wonder how this will help with Carpal Tunnel?

Stereo samples !!!! MAJOR game changer update when compared to original Tracker .. Also audio over USB, so you can (assuming its class compliant) connect it with your iphone / ipad :)

On other side iphone has no build in imputs and outputs and physical controls .. it's matter of taste what you prefer and what you need for your workflow.. if you need inputs/outpus (audio, midi) you need connect usb audio device to your iphone / ipad .. now add together price of iphone / ipad + soundcard with audio / midi in / outs and you maybe end with higher price than this Tracker mini..

Yes you can do more with iOS device - but there is a lot of people who doesn't want to do more, they wants just this a kinda limited device exactly because it is limited .. it's subjective point of view..

Not going to buy it, i am Elektron freak, but i can see how for somebody it can be great super portable device worth to pay that price.

  • I traded my OP-Z for a Tracker last year and I was shocked how much it could do. They’ve packed a lot of really fun, clever tricks into the firmware and the Mini looks like a worthy upgrade.

With that said, the thought of mastering another groovebox workflow was too much for my brain, so I traded the Tracker a few weeks later and doubled down on my split Ableton / Loopy Pro workflows. And I quite like those workflows so for once, I’m not even remotely tempted to order a shiny new toy!

I used to have a Roland PMA5, which has the same clunky cute factor. I just loved MIDI sequencing 90’s style on that thing.

Can’t compare to my hoard of iPhone music apps, but I do still crave a go anywhere, music only device - especially with blinky lights and buttons.

It is half the price of many iPhones and iPads…
No alerts, email or any other distractions - just music-making.
I like hardware for the simplicity, so I have a hybrid setup.
I don’t see myself buying this, but I definitely understand why people will, looks fun!

  • Yeah, this.

  • Looks fun, but too expensive. I’d go for it in the £300-400 range.

Yeah definitely looks more like that price range of kit, unless it’s just the hyperflation hitting everything still… an encoder would be great for a tracker as well, I’ve not retired it with sunvox yet but entering values that way instead of with a keyboard or up/down arrows would be really nice.

  • Although from the Benn Jordan vid, you can apparently play in your pitches from a keyboard:

  • clunky AF ... ergonomic it is not.
