Stereo “Narrower”?
I’ve been setting up an effects chain with Eventide Qvox - but it pans pitch-shifted voices hard left and right… so, I
want to narrow the stereo field afterwards!
I tried RRS Fuse Stereo Image last night, which can narrow the stereo field somewhat by setting Width to -6dB, which I guess is reducing the side signal.
But is there a better option which would reduce even to mono? Maybe True Pan?
Comments
Think the workaround for QVox was to use the mid side balance in AUM. That’s the only host I use so can’t advise if you’re using something else unfortunately
@MadGav I is hunk you could also use True Pan, you can reduce a stereo input down to mono by turning the width down to zero
both AUM and Drambo have native Stereo to mono options per channel.
@MadGav What may be different from various tools for stereo spread adjustment, is that True Pan can help you explore the effects of smoothly transitioning from L / R to M / S... which can be further fine-tuned by the width setting.
If you rotate by 45 degrees in True Pan (and keep 100% width), the LEFT channel will become MID, and the RIGHT channel will become the SIDE. You can of course explore any settings in-between 0 and 45 degrees, as well as apply width changes.
I’m using Cubasis 3, the mention of built-in effects by @Danny_Mammy has prompted me to check what’s available - maybe the master strip can be used, I will check later or FX pack 1 contains Stereo Width but that would cost more than True Pan.
Thank you @thesoundtestroom and @quantovox for the confirmation that True Pan will do this (and of course much more!)
check this one. it works like the imager by iZotope Ozone...
