  • Great demo Gav’ and this woulda sold me had I not already bought mighty Mantis. Oldschool fun for days.. years.

I haven’t touched any of my other 7000 delays, Mantis is it for me, it does it all, just great.

  • It definitely sounds good.

  • @Proppa cheers!

@michael_m definitely, love that slew knob too.

@Slush wow, a true convert! I just don't understand why in this one there is no control over attack and release times of the noise envelope - seems a really bizarre omission as both Reels and Wires have this, and it's genuinely super useful.

Absolutely, agree with you. The noise part is super cool to play with but it needs an envelope. I’ll send a feedback message on Testflight, hopefully it will be implemented in the nearby, who knows :)
    Cool demo btw!

Yeah, I also asked for this, but if more people ask it is more likely to be implemented. Cheers!

I'm curious what exactly you prefer about this over other analogue delays, whether by Audiothing or Genuine Soundware, for example, by the way.

@Gavinski Feedback has been send :)

To answer your question, I think Mantis fits so well with the style I make. There is something about AudioThing that gives a simple sound that special ‘authentic’ sauce. I don’t mean just vintage, we have enough fx than can do that, it’s more than that, it feels like real hardware. Same with Dials, sometimes it’s hard to say what it does, but ever since I bought it it’s in my chain. What I also like about Mantis is that you can add pattern steps for more complex echo/delay lines. I do like to play with lfo’s so adding a few to some of faders/pattern knobs makes things even more interesting. It sounds warm and analogue. The GSI Echo B2 is a great delay as well but is more restricted. It has a nasty wobble that I wish I could turn off.

Anyway, like so many here I hope AudioThing will release Outer Space some day, the mother of all tape delays.

I guess as always, it depends what you’re looking for. I was just comparing this with a few GenuineSoundware delays, and also Ratshack reverb. I was surprised to find that Mantis is the darkest-sounding of them all, no matter what way you tweak it. So if you’re looking for that sound, it is great, but if looking for a slightly cleaner delay sound, B2, Ratshack, Varispeed, GS201 might be more up your street.

  • Of course - the above only applies to Ratshack when using in ‘line in’ mode - with mic mode, it can get gnarly as hell very quickly. Actually still strikes me as a great ‘bargain bucket delay’ for the money!

  • Alright, you’ve convinced me… I’ll take them. 😀

  • Love the idea of a full track with just Hammerhead and Mantis. You’ve inspired me 😂

I wouldn’t go that far as I feel like ODC is a part of me now lol. But I’m just a sucker for a good delay and Mantis is a really good one.

Excellent! It does sound fantastic on drums, I reckon. But yes, no need to delete ODC, for sure! It's very classy in its own way. Quite a stupendously good delay.

ODC is one of those rare apps that just blows me away as far as the creativity and sound implemented. If I could only keep 1 delay it would be that. Mantis is very unique and a lot of fun though. It does what Ratshack does and then some and Ratshack was/is one of my favorites.

  • When was this released?! 🤣 Man I'm sleep. Great demo Gav. I purchased it, lol.

ODC and Ratshack ftw, on totally different levels

  • A short experimental noodle, inspired on Gavins video to put Mantis on rhythm.
Overdriving and pushing Mantis to the roof B)

  • This is great. Lovely, dirty tones. And wonderful to see apeMatrix in the house!

Oooh. This makes for a really nice deep house intro. Really nice. My SE is too small to make out what is making that mono tone that comes in and out. The interface looks familiar though.

I think what you mean is the synth Lagrange, which is (among other fx) switching between Mantis and Wires.
Lagrange is a beautiful synth btw, very creative.
