Is anything not a Hammond?
Hi all,
Is there an organ iOS app that isn't a Hammond?
I'm looking for a theatre type organ sound, like the old electric Lowrey / Wurlitzer with rocker switches and tabs that can be blended.
Common blend-able sounds were flute, string, trumpet, cornet, viola, etc. although they were a far cry from the sound of the actual instruments, that is what I'm interested in.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Thank you for the suggestion, tja.
The audio/video sample from that thread is no longer available, but from what I gathered the Wurlitzer being discussed is an electric piano.
Perhaps the vintage electric Lowrey organs are more related to the sound in question given Wurlitzers' popularly for their electric piano's.
@walnut - this might do some of what you’re after

Also if you have Soundfont/sf2 player I found a wurlitzer sf2 file here

benlefoe! That is certainly more along the lines, thank you.
That app seems to replicate a popular transistor organ of the correct decade but the electric "home organ" or "theatre organ" is a bit more whacky in a modern days sense. Commonly equipped with sustain functions and unique primitive electric sound replications of harpsichord / trombone / oboe / etc to be blended on top of each other.
This is not to be confused with the sampled sounds of a mellotron.
The organ effects were not sampled and produced by synthesis, but not quite like the Moog in terms of user control. Simple rocker switches or stop tabs were toggled on or off.
You mean one of those Fun Machines like this?
I have to read into this, thank you!
At a glance I have no idea what I'm looking at or how to run this on iOS.
I will get back here on that.
Oh yes, wmmakerofmusic!
I am not familiar with this particular model but we seem to be getting there!
Yep my mother had a similar one, just different shape. I don't know of any app that can do this, but one of the soundfont AUv3s and the right soundfonts could get you there.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Pure Synth Platinum has a generous selection of Organs (as well as a shit-ton of other bread and butter sounds), and is a full-blown synth where you can customize to your heart's content.
It's not an emulation with the familiar types of controls wanted, but I it might get the job done.
Awesome wim! I think this could get close to recreate that Lowrey symphonic organ effect.
I like loads of presets since I'm not an expert in synthesizer mechanics.
Can presets be layered on top of each other? Is midi CC mapping changeable?
This may be a question for a separate thread but is there a Leslie rotary simulation app I can run the entire Pure Synth thru with Audiobus?
Thanks for your suggestion, very helpful.
iOptigan is a pretty cool home organ sim.
I've seen this but I'm not getting a clear idea of what the organ itself sounds like, lots tunes loaded into the unit but no idea what playing the app with a midi controller is capable of.
Any info on the sound the keyboard makes without the tunes playing would be appreciated.
Thanks for the suggestion.
These are the sounds I'm after, the organ is designed for them to be stacked on top of each other.
I don’t have it installed right now due to lack of storage space, so I cannot help.

Here’s some that haven’t been mentioned yet. Also Galileo and Sampletron.
Klevgrand Hillman is a nice combo organ:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/hillman-synth/id1488336769
App Store Description:
“Hillman is a synthlike instrument inspired by old combo-organs, string machines and similar vintage gear.
4 voices per note, each with selectable waveform (transistorish, tubeish, sine and special plasma), octave switch and a level control.
Sounds are generated with an analog approach, but does not use samples or sampled wavetables.“
Hillman has been my personal favorite for years ❤️
Thank you Stuntman_mike!
Thank you all!
There are also the Farfisa and Vox apps from GSi

I’m curious about these. You tried them yet? I already have the insideout apps which are emulating the same things but GSI does some good stuff.
I did not have the time yet to play them thoroughly but I like them a lot so far.
IMO, from comparing YouTube videos, the GSI emulations sound more like the real deal and are more 3 dimensional. The insideout apps still sound good but they’re a little “flat” sounding and not quite as rich. I recently purchased their Alina String Machine and I’m pleased with it though. But, for Farfisa I’m going with GSI…and might as well buy the bundle at this point.
Yeah it’s weird for the string emulation i prefers theirs to GSIs. But GSIs organ programming may be a bit better. Their string emulator isn’t bad either though. Not sure if it’s supposed to be a Solina or not.
