Trying to create livestream (for performing) live over twitch (using iPad only)
Hry everyone, as title suggests….
Attempting to perform over twitch but having issues with AV sync.
Essentially.. iPad in stage manager mode… iPad Pro 12.9 2018 model, ios16.
AUM on the right (window)
Webcam (internal front facing iPad cam) on left of screen, pointing at me.
Using Schure sm58, midi keyb, all connected thru a BEHRINGER UMC404HD 4-port interface.
All gadgets connected to iPad using a usb-c dongle.
Managed to concoct all these elements (small, surprising miracle), …. But the AV sync is terribly out, making viewing of the performance pretty lacking..
——does anyone know if it’s possible to use a USB webcam in my setup and have better results?
Anyone out there use one or could recommend?
Thanks for any tips guys thanks for watching 🙏🏻

I have researched this for a while, I don't think a USB webcam is compatible. Also not sure if there is an only iPad solution if you want to display your face as well. I am currently working on a solution using a mini PC and a capture card. I have an older lightning iPad. My plan is to get a lightning to HDMI adapter going into capture card into my mini pc. Then using another capture care or webcam hooked to the pc. Using OBS on my mini PC, I will have a lot of options to arrange the windows.
In your case it seems you have a new USB-C device. getting HDMI out is easier since there are many more options for USB-c to HDMI. The mini PC I got runs about $150 and I got a $18 HDMI capture card that works great. Pair that with a cheap webcam and you are off and running for around $200ish. If you already have some of those items it would be even cheaper.
I hope to streamline my video making by using this setup and recording directly into the computer, to minimize editing and to do the occasional live stream.
I can post links to the PC and stuff if you want me to.
Hmmm.. That's actually a pretty interesting setup idea dude thanks for the thoughts.
I just remembered I do have an old mini PC (micro ATX) from literally 10 years ago (win10 -just about!) which would've been perfect but the combo (mobo+GPU in it), defunct
I remember now, which is why it got shelved and I went down the raspberry pi route (it was basically just a media player and basic windows machine)
I might into mini PCs though so thanks for reminding me of the idea.
I've heard OBS is a good, industry standard way of doing things..
As I remember, one of my iPad dongles also had HDMI out which could be handy to go into a capture card.
I was lucky when I bought the 2018 iPad. I bought it in 2020 2nd hand, while they wanted to up to the 2020 model. From what I understand, they dropped USB-c for a while after that.
I have to admit I do like usb-c.. but ppl always find a way of getting tons to work!
be greatful to know how you get on with your project and what cam you may go for.
Some years ago (lockdown) I remember a Logitech C3900 1080p being popular.
Interesting...
I researched while back gave up on trying to find way to stream just with iPad
