iConnectAudio4+ interface + iPad Air with M1

I would like to buy an iPad Air with M1 chip. But can I continue to use my iConnectAudio4+ (connected to my Windows 7 PC) with that device? Does anyone have experience with that? Is a Lightning to USB-C adapter sufficient? Thank you in advance.

  • The M1 Air is USB-C , right? You can just plug it straight in

Unfortunately not, because the iConnectAudio4+ comes (came) with a special USB to Lightning cable, that also charges the iPad (at this moment my iPad Pro 10.5).

  • Yes, you can do this. I have a iConnectAudio4+ connected to my ipad pro M1 via an OTG usb-c hub - they are pretty standard. Works fine, no issues.

  • Thank you very much, @stim. So for charging the iPad Air M1 (while using it with the iCA4+) you always need such a hub. Some sort of adapter for the standard iCA4+-USB to Lightning-cable like a _female _ Lightning to _male _ USB-C cable doesn't exist (I couldn't find one)?

  • Yes, the hub will have to supply the power. There is no way around this AFAIK.

  • If you never ever plan to use a Lightning device with the iCA4+ again... you may sell the „special cable“. It was an expensive item (if ordered separately) and may be highly sought as it‘s probably not available anymore. ;)

  • Thank you, @stim and @Telefunky !

  • I just went thru this same situation. Powered USB-C hub works fine although I had to buy a stronger power supply (20V 3.4A) to run it

  • I have an iCA2+ and it works fine also just bus powered connected to my MacBook Pro M1.
