How to record a sample within Gyrosynth?
I very gratefully picked up Beepstreet Gyrosynth when it was free last week. I can’t manage to get it to record a sample using the device microphone though. I press Record but nothing happens. The built in samples load up without any problems.
The one thing I did notice was that it doesn’t ask for permission to use the microphone when installed and first launched so I don’t know if that’s the problem? It doesn’t show up on the list of installed apps in device Settings either to manually grant that permission?
Anyone able to check if it’s working and/or tell me what I’m doing wrong? Thanks.

Can this app actually sample? I was under the impression that was just for recording performances and playing them back?
Yeah, it has a sampler and some inbuilt factory samples with the apparent ability to record your own samples…but I can’t get it to record successfully.
Ah I see. So first off go to recorder and record your sample into the mic (you must first name the recording). Then go back to the main page and the second column for synth type. Press the big button until you get to SAMP. Then press set. It will take you to the recordings section where you will select your sample. Then back to the home page to play it!
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the instructions, really appreciate it. Doesn’t work for me though unfortunately. The recorder only records internal audio/performances for me, not the microphone input. The recording is made but it is silent. Are you running the latest iOS - I’m on 16.3.1 - I wonder if something’s broken?
Maybe if you ask on the Beepstreet forum , you might get an answer from the developer.
Okay, thanks. The first thing I did though actually was email the developer directly but I never heard back hence asking here. I’ll try again.
Sometimes asking on their forum works better than emailing directly. Ymmv.
Okay, certainly worth a try. Thanks @espiegel123 .
Oh man I’m not entirely sure then
I’m on the latest OS as well. It was just updated a week ago also. I can try again later on and see if I can replicate the issue. Sorry to hear it’s not working for you. Best of luck! Will report back.
Glad you found it useful though the screenshot was from the OP. It’s a pretty cool app!
Thanks. I’ve posted on the Beepstreet forum now as well so maybe that will get an answer?
Problems with the sampler function have been confirmed by @rs2000 (thanks again!) on the Beepstreet forum and reported to @giku_beepstreet .
