For the first time, I'm trying to time the release for BANDCAMP FRIDAY. The first Friday of most months Bandcamp waives their cut so the artist gets a bigger piece of the pie. It's always FREE to listen, but if you think you might want to help support the artist financially (me in this case), this Friday May 5 is a great day for it!

I'm really excited about this new track, which I hope you'll enjoy!

  • Looking forward to hearing it!

  • Thanks don’t forget to put Friday a link to yout band camptomorrow

  • Excellent!!!
    Congratulations on this endeavor!!!

  • Thanks for the link I go to heard it

  • I heard your project « outlaw Love » really nice groovy saxo, very professional including the mixing and the mastering compressor ( I think you had one multiband) is very gentle , transparent

  • Cool @Lady_App_titude cant wait to hear, and we wish you much success!

Great track - super groovy, man. I love the slick-funk, late 70's vibe and I like that you're singing more too. And of course the sax is killing.

  • Love this track @Lady_App_titude - it would not be out of place on a 70s singer/Brill Building songwriter album such as Carole King (I can hear some of her keyboard style in there! ) Definitely hit material!

Thanks so much! Coincidentally, I worked for 20 years two blocks from Brill Building. Also definitely logged a lot of years in that musical zone!

Grazie mille! È molto gentile da parte tua, Davipucci

I don't know about you, Colin, but so far my first attempt at timing a release for Bandcamp Friday hasn't done much, but hey it's also Cinco De Mayo... A chance to support your favorite starving musicians for less than the price of a taco! :p

May The Fifth Be With You!

I only just made it today for my release (18 tracks took a bit more time to collate, master and upload than I was expecting!). But I did get a couple of small donations for my older, free albums today and, so far 1 purchase of this new album! But I never really see anything more than single figures in a week. It usually "peaks" up to 7 days after a release and then goes quiet until the next release

It's a good job we're not in it for the money!

Ha! I think it was Jimmy Jam who said, "It takes just as much work to be a musician as a doctor or lawyer." But alas we are reduced to busking for tacos. :p

I'm just glad that I'm able to do music full time (for now) and people get to hear it! But I also just found this week I need a $4000 repair on my heating system. That's a lotta tacos! o:)

  • You really took your production quality up a notch with this tune. Love the sax to add extra color. Nice surprises in the chord progression and your vocal. I’m sure you spent a lot of time getting these performances across the board. Nice mix of a pretty complex arrangement. I dropped $10 in your tip jar to celebrate this one.

Sorry to hear about your heater… as far as the seasons go you might have some time before it gets really cold.

I hope someone hears this one and sends more business your way to cover this bill.

Thanks so much, @McD! Any time I have to hire a sax player I'm already going into it in the hole, so every bit of support helps! But it was worth it. I knew this song needed that "David Sanborn-ish" kinda sax touch. Interesting note about the sax solo. I tried hiring someone remotely and just letting them improvise, and it was nice, but just not tight enough. Rather than just keep asking for revisions and hoping he would just happen upon exactly the right thing, I did what I've never done before and decided to compose the part myself. He was able to immediately recreate my part note-for-note from my demo example. I ended up getting exactly what I wanted with just one more revision. Amazing player!

  • Nothing bad to say… a perfectly formed piece of music in every way 🙏

That’s so you and it shows in the results. It just a shame that the effort doesn’t insure a return on your investments.
That’s the curse of the artist, I guess. Put up the best work possible and don’t expect to get rich.

  • FYI... The tune is now also available on Youtube:

  • This is very well done. I thought I was listening to the SNL band with David Sanborn. I liked the chord changes when the vocals came in. I was expecting something else entirely. The vocals are spot on. This is right and tight!

Thanks so much Paulieworld! Definitely wanted that David Sanborn-kinda sax sound on this one. Pretty much THE sax session guy for so many classic records for many years. I never knew he was a member of the SNL band, but I just looked it up and it seems he was for one season in 1980!

  • And Thanks in advance for any Likes and Subscribes on Youtube. A long way to go, but if I can get to 1000 subscribers, I can stop Youtube from running ads on my original, copyrighted material. Every little bit helps.

  • I think you have a great voice and this a great song.

  • Just wanted to pop in and say this is a great sounding track. I kept hearing hints of Little River Band (which, in case I need to clarify, is high praise in my book 😀). The rhythm piano sat just right in the mix, and the sax felt natural and organic . A lot of times, throwing in a sax can come across like a forced “we’re so cool” addition, but it was perfect for this song. Great job on the vocals, too.

The whole song went down as smooth as a glass of iced tea on a hot summer day (probably a very Southern USA thing to say, but it’s already hot here so I’m sticking with the analogy lol)

  • Man - my previous post was a hot mess. That's what I get for trying to respond on my phone - I cleaned it up so it actually made sense.

So I finally got a chance to listen to this properly rather than through my crappy iPad speakers. It's got a very NYC, 80's Steely Dan kinda Donald Fagan I.G.Y. vibe to it - there's nothing overtly like that track, but that's what it FEELS like to me. I dig the overall consistency of the track as it feels like you had a specific attitude you were going for and you nailed it. I like that none of the instrumentation jumps out at me - it feels very cohesive as a production/mix. As I mentioned before, I especially like that you're singing more. You sound more confident for sure.

There were a few nice chordal curveballs that kept my ear interested throughout. Definitely not predictable which I appreciate. I'd love to hear more from you with this kind of cohesiveness.

I dig it. Ottimo lavoro, Signora App-titudine. Mi piace. Aspetterò il prossimo singolo in attesa.

  • Fantastico!

Thanks so much, Daveypoo! Obviously l take such comparisons as the highest possible compliment (even if I don’t necessarily feel the same exact associations). I loved that record so much!

Ha! Does this mean that l’m officially yacht rock? :D
