Auto pitch and stretch preview on samples library
Hi, is there a sampler/slicer app that which would allow you to listen to your samples in your sound library (in iPad folder or audioshare, etc..whatever..) at the same pitch and tempo that match a project by just clicking on it, without necessarily importing it..? Or, if there is no way to do this without importing files into the application, which applications like Ampify launchpad allow to do it in batch import and make its own folders inside the app…? The idea would be to do as in the Ampify blocswave application without having to necessarily import its sounds and having to tag all iiser loops before hand. I like Blocswave, that’s really fun for testing and match loops that could fit on a project with specific tempo and tune..but that’s frustrating because we can not customise and tag our user loops as we want, and tag one by one that’s taking time..Is that Koala/Segments/Samplr/iMPC2/EG Pulse or similar apps can do this…? I find nowhere the answer, I don’t want to buy all the apps just to test…;) I’m looking for a slicer/sampler with more option than Blocswave..Thanks
Comments
Nope. Blocswave and Launchpad are the best/only ones that come close as far as I know.
In Zenbeats you can preview loops in sync with the project tempo, really good time stretching too. It won’t alter the pitch, though, you’ll have to do that manually.
Previewing drum loops in time with the project is a must for me, you can just scroll through your loops while previewing and load the one that fits.
@tahiche Great thanks ! But I don’t know yet if I prefer import all and tag files 1 by 1 to get auto pitch and time stretching using only one app (Launchpad..) or use Zenbeats for beats and Launchpad for the rest..Ideally should be to use just one app to make it all regarding loops and samples work. I try as much as possible to limit the number of apps I use in my workflow to a minimum, because otherwise, I'll get lost and end up not fully mastering all the apps, or I forgot also if not use an app for a long time..
Sounds like something that would be an awesome addition to Sample Crate, that be cool.
@Poppadocrock YES absolutely ! And in the case Sample Crate allows you to trigger several loops at the same time with a volume for each of the loops, and/or synchronize with a DAW..I didn't try yet Sample Crate because I just have the feeling that it will just add one more step in the process for what I need..but SC looks great at it stage to use to browse/tag and sort loops and useful for for those who need to build and share drums kits between apps..
It doesn’t make sense to use Zenbeats to preview if you’re not using Zenebats as your project DAW. What DAW or app do you mainly use?. I commented on Zenbeats because the preview feature is fantastic, I can’t think of any other app or daw that implements loop previews so well.
@tahiche , yes absolutely agree with you ! And thanks again for your input. Good to know that feature exist on zenbeat. Basically I use Cubasis as DAW, to record guitars/bass/keyboard(hammond), I use sometimes beatmaker that is great but I’m bored with its ergonomy, and have to watch everytime tutorials as I forgot how that works everytime I use it (not often..).So I go with more easy/friendly apps like ampify groovebox and blocwaves when I need more "electronic" touch..inside my projects, I'm not used with samplers/slicers, but it looks intesting and creative and it would be a shame to neglect this creative potential..Just that’s boring me to guess which loops would fit into my projects by browsing my collection, save the loops, import to cubasis, test loops sound quality once applied timestretch/pitch and then finally try if that fit into my project…and slice it manually if needed.That’s why I use blockswave, that’s great but I’m looking for more advanced possibilities with easy workflow, and with user samples library and folders.So up to now, if no one has the solution or if that apps don’t exist yet, no choice, it looks that I have to spend time to import my loops into launchpad, that’s not a big issue…I’m just lazy..;) Then, find a good app in the apps jungle that could fit for my use to slice and sample (perhaps segments, EG pulse, Koala, samplr) don’t know yet..and finally find an easy way to make beats perhaps zenbeats..Usually I use virtual drummers on desktop as on ios environment acoustic drums sounds scrap BUT not the electronics ones..I have already made some funk/electro tracks, but it takes too much time that break the inspiration/motivation, so I try to be sure before buying apps that I wouldn't use, and take time to survey in the hope to have a more efficient workflow..
Maybe you should give Zenbeats a try.
@tahiche Yes I will
Yea sample crate is good for some kit making but can’t do pitch and time. if that was added to the SC app it would make it way more powerful. I forget the developers handle on here… I’ll have to look it up and mention something to him.
@Poppadocrock COOL ! 👍
