Epsilon Octantis - Pianoteq solo

A kind of Prelude & Blues named after another star in the constellation Octans. This uses an altered version of the Pianoteq model Grand Steinway D (honkytonk).

  • Another fascinating piece… I think I would have preferred a less honkytonk and more concert grand sort of sound but that’s just me… look forward to the next creation 👍

Thanks again! for digging it out of obscurity. Re-listening just now I feel I could slowed it all down a bit. I think I chose that particular sound just to change it up some and thought it might go with the 'bluesy' part. One thing I like with Pianoteq is moving the 'Condition' slider to a little more worn and detuned quality. I was just going to comment on your Mars piece when I came to the forum. I guess I'll go over there to continue.

  • I like this! Like Tony, I would maybe have gone for more of a prelude type piano sound.

Some lovely changes here, definitely very engaging and some moments of beauty. I think I would have preferred it played at lower velocity in some parts, but maybe that's just me!

I would like to have heard it with the Steingraeber, I think it would sound cleaner, the Steinway gets a bit muddy for fast playing, to my taste, especially when you make it honky.

Wish I hadn't given up my piano lessons as a teen!

Hey thanks! Yes, I have the Steingraeber too. I could never play this as you hear it. It's mostly midi sculpting.
