Audio to MIDI conversion…

Searched the forum for Audio to MIDI threads, but, couldn’t find this topic…
So, here’s my take on that.

I have looked after a really really good converter from Audio to MIDI, and, recently find that Spotify have this service online. But, pretty bad conversion there…

Today I finally find an incredible good online converter - take a look at this files, first the original audiofile and then the processed/converted MIDI-file…
I can’t upload the MIDI-file (restrictions?) so you have to rename the .wav-file to .mid

Opinion on this?

  • Damn… that’s really good conversion. I can hear the results in PianoTeq using the very intimate Bluthner “Prelude” preset which I seriously doubt except me a few others will buy because it’s just too intimate and it tickles all my ear-o-genius zones with the right stimuli.

Perhaps you could share a pointer to this service in a DM to someone.

This service is not any secret - www.ai-midi.com

The original piano that Benny Andersson is playing on is a Bösendorfer Grand…
This is riped from Tidal and its a wonderful album with soft and great piano tunes…

This link works (removing the www. part)

    http://ai-midi.com

I fed it something I made with Staffpad using a string orchestra just to see and it generates trills for the long notes. I wonder if a Mozaic script to throw out duplicate notes might help generate something useful for feeding orchestra music to a synth.

Seems Logic has something called FlexPitch.. BTW you can zip most files to upload here.. I think.

  • This AI-site makes incredible good conversions…
But, maybe can missed some pedaling here and there, but, easy to take this files into some MIDI-editors and add the pedaling…

For a pianolover like me it’s interesting to convert pianomusic to MIDI and bring into Pianoteq and there be able to test alot of different pianos, both Uprights and Grands - the variations are endless in Pianoteq!

  • Upload yet another Audio to MIDI test using the online service ai-midi.com

    Felix Mendelsohn…

Rename the .wav to .mid - we seems not be able to upload MIDI-files here??

You can upload any file here as long as you zip it first!

Good find, I'll definitely check this out later, thnx for sharing!

  • Would love to hear more from folks about the state of audio to MIDI. My biggest hope is for an AUv3 app that lets me sing and output MIDI and audio to use in AUM and Koala.

Something super simple. Not part of a DAW like Cubasis.

  • I was surprised to hear some negative sentiment towards the spotify service:
    https://basicpitch.spotify.com/

I tried this and found its actually pretty good. The 'pro tip' to using this I found was to isolate whatever you are trying to transcribe before giving it to the machine.
i.e. separate the lead line from the accompaniment.

I had considerable success with this for a project which I then put 'on hold'... but not because of this reason... one day I may return to it!

Isn’t there already an audio to midi app? Would this not work?

  • I’ll check it out thanks!

Weird. I posted about a tool I found today and just saw this post being commented on tonight, right after.

It’s based off this Spotify basic-pitch site you linked @belldu !

Not sure if this would help @joegrant413 - it’s a desktop app but figured I’d share just in case.

The app reviews for the iOS one shared seem a little lackluster. Though that's not always a great indicator.

The desktop app I shared; NeuralNote is really good. If you’re able to use it or are even curious.

It’s free to try, so you can give it a spin and see if it works for you. Haven’t tried it myself yet.
