Great guitar performances

I just found this and I thought you might like it, too.

  • SRV was one hell of a singer too. Jeff Healey’s hand are so much fun to watch and try and finger out what chords he’s actually playing. Jeff is blind so I’m guessing he figured the guitar and how to pay blues by experimentation since who could teach that unorthodox approach unless they had too play in just that way.

    Jeff could sing too:

My favorite from this generation of white blues players might be Jonny Lang - this one is a lesson in rhythm playing and tone:

  • Jeff Beck, my favorite guitar player

Eric Johnson, song starts at about 2:00 min, if you want to skip the solo intro

and of course Frank Zappa, here with a tiny little Pignose Amp, starts at 3:05 min

  • best guitar instrumental ever? Maybe…..

  • @McD After a particularly bad day, it was such a joy to find this. I remember how sad I was to hear of his passing. I was not that familiar with Jonny Lang, so thanks for posting. It reminds me of when we used to gig on Lincoln Avenue. So many great clubs, and they were all open till dawn. My favorite was the Clearwater Saloon. Nothing special about it, I just liked it. Mom told me that Grandpa used to play his accordian there during the Great Depression. They are all gone now, replaced with LLCs and smoothie shops.

RIP JB... Tal was easy on the eyes, too!

Skip the into? No way... I love it all.

Zappa had it all. Amazing musical talent and a great sense of humor. I had the pleasure of seeing him back in the 70s. What a great show. They had the George Duke dance contest where audience members tried to keep up with his riffing. Hilarious! At one point, someone dressed as a frogman just walked across the stage for no reason, and no explanation given. I also remember him appearing on 'What's My Line' as the mystery guest.

  • This whole video. The most amazing trio ever! (IMO)

The Aristocrats: Guthrie Govan, Bryan Beller, and Marco Minnemann

    These guys are really good.

And can’t forget the most amazing guitar performance of all time

  • Rip SRV
I’m my opinion one of the most badass guitarists to ever live.
I admire that playing. Got sober and still could burn a house down with just a guitar.

Hard to argue against that. Absolute poetry in motion. Lots of guys can shred, but not many can coax such a range of emotion out of wood and steel. 'Passion And Warfare' is still a fantastic guitar-driven album, and Flex-able' plays like a tribute to you ;)

    My favorite guitar band:

  • Some fantastic music here, thanks all for posting…
Here’s an example of my favourite guitarist John Mclaughlin, not his greatest solo but the interplay with Billy C is tremendous, the fun bit starts about 23:50… can’t believe it’s 50 years old 😢

The Asian guy has already caught my eye on YouTube 👍
    Here is another young talent

  • Many years ago I came across a series of videos of a young classical guitar player that still blow me away. The technical proficiency here is insane:

  • Amazing @spiteface
Another exhibition of technical proficiency here… skip to 1:25 if you want to skip the AI stuff..

  • I did an album with this guy in the late 90s. His name is Tony Iovino. I posted one of his original songs on the forum a little over a year ago. It's called Sarasvati.

  • I love Ichika Nito's song titles

  • I’m sure you’ve all seen this before. The fireworks start around 3:30.

I was just gonna post that. I watch it once or twice a year. Amazing for sure!!!! Fun to watch the other guys in band watching Prince and their awestruck looks or twinkle in their eyes knowing Prince is fucking killing it!

  • Ok, guitar and Rhodes performance but who's gonna complain when it's Isaiah and Cory right

  • Edie Hazel on Maggot Brain has always been one of my all time guitar performances. So insanely good. Also Gilmour on Dogs of course.
