Ok it’s time for Sampletank #3 for iOS with Auv3 for Logic Pro /iPad .. People are talking about whether or not NI will be porting over to iOS now, I say who cares? A new Sampletank would give us plenty to work with on top of the new instruments in Logic.. Let’s see what they are and go from there. We need you, we’re counting on you..Sampletank and it’s sound packs are not cheap but they’re damn good..Whatya say?

  • @Telstar5 : I think the lack of urgency from iK in doing SampleTank as an AUv3 is likely the same as Korg’s.

The monetary return on invested time does not justify the expense. It will be interesting see if the release of Logic Pro entices a wave of new iOS music users more willing to pay for pro level software. I am a little skeptical but would be glad to be wrong.

Both iK and Korg are well aware of people wanting AUv3…they are also more aware than we are of how many such people there are.

  • Ikm’s desktop stuff isn’t even Apple Silicone compliant so far as I can see.

At least some of it is, if not all. T-racks finally went native not too long ago. MODO, Amplitube and tonex definitely are native. I own a lot of their other titles but those are the main ones I use, so I don’t know about others off the top of my head. I use b3x also when I’m mixing and get organ midi parts, and I don’t recall having any issues with it. I uninstalled any plugins from any company that aren’t silicon native, so I’m thinking b3x is as well.

Sampletank is M1 native on desktop.

Would be nice if the desktop purchased packs transferred over to iOS but might be a bit much to ask.

Exactly my thinking insofar as SampleTank . iPad Logic might be the incentive they/we need whereas I’m not so sure Korg wants to open up their closed space .

Korg has already released some AUv3 on iOS and I am pretty sure that their desktop offerings run as plugins. I am pretty confident that the reason most of the Korg synths haven't been converted to AUv3 is simply return on investment rather than trying to keep people stuck in Gadget.

I am not sure why it is hard for people to believe that there is not a lot of money to be made in rewriting old apps to become AUv3. Perhaps that will change in the future. Some developers keep telling us about these economic facts with their words -- and the actions of a host of other developers that remain silent provide ample evidence that this is true.

This could change at some point in the future. But I'd imagine that developers that have already experienced disappointing returns on the money spent will want to see evidence that something has changed before committing resources.

If there were a lot of money to be made, you would have seen Korg, iK, Native Instruments, etc being much more active in this development space -- and you wouldn't see NanoStudio 2 and Auria Pro essentially ending active development if things were otherwise. Also, LUMBEATS would surely have figured out how to port their apps to AUv3 if there was enough money to be made to justify the time and effort.

I understand. It remains to be seen if Logic will significantly increase the market. And I am certain that commercial developers will be watching to see what happens.
