I am looking for an app or AUv3 that can send Sysex Messages

I have a hardware sound module from which I want to use literally a few patches, but with effects control. For this I need an app that works in the background, or, better yet, an app in the form of an AUv3 plugin (for use in AUM) that sends MIDI out.
I immediately admit to being completely dull when it comes to scripting/coding, so I would prefer to write messages as given in the implementation table.
I need to send PC (MSB+LSB+PC), and Sysex messages. And preferably if the application has a MIDI Learn function.

Thanks in advance for your help and regards to the forum.

P.S. I did not know whether such a question belongs to the hardware or app category.

Mozaic may be able to do what you want as AUv3. I believe there's a size limitation of 1024 bytes for Sysex messages. You can search the manual for section on Sysex. http://ruismaker.com/wp-content/uploads/Mozaic.pdf

If not Mozaic, Streambyter would be next guess, not sure about how it handles sysex.

I'm unclear on how you'd want to use midi learn. Mozaic has no special support for it, you might be able to set something up in the host app (e.g., AUM), and of course can always just wire directly.

  • Here's an example that converts a CC message to a SysEx message using Streambyter:

Besides Mozaic and Streambyter, Loopy Pro can also send sysex messages if they aren't long and don't need checksum calculations.

  • Thank you all for fast answers!

This one looks very interesting. I've never tried Loopy and it will be reasonable for me to start only on Thursday (I now have the hottest 3 days with the college Big Band). But Loopy Pro's already loaded!

Just to set expectations - none of these solutions is going to have midi learn for sysex. If you're hoping to maybe send a patch from a synth, have it remembered by the app, then use that to set the patch next time, you're going to be disappointed.

If by midi learn you mean determining the sysex to send from a manual, then midi learning a note or CC message sent from a controller to trigger sending the sysex message, then Loopy Pro is probably up to the job.

Thnak you @wim, this is important remark! But I want to do the following:

If you know the sysex to send and the messages are fixed (i.e. you don't need to inject variable values into the messages, Loopy will work fine.

  • I’m still trying to work out how to use Mozaic or Loopy to send individual patches (because of the size limitations), but for general sysex functionality on my iPad I use Sysex Base. (It’s a standalone app).

Loopy is only for short static sysex messages.
