Guess it was not exactly an open beta then. Dev just came here to get some beta testers, once he felt he had enough, closed it. Like all his apps, it will likely be cheap, so I wouldn't worry too much

Which other apps? And what kinda noise are people getting out of this?

    Cheers!

lots of short wave radio sounds and drones clicks and bleeps

You had me at “short wave radio sounds”. Perhaps not enough to steal me away from SDR, but with the other tricks up its sleeve might be a goer. Shame I missed the BETA, but no doubt the developer is in good hands :)

    SDR?

    Software Defined Radio

    websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901

Choose your band, zoom in or out of the 'waterfall' and then move the yellow trapezoid pointer around (Thick yellow indicates stronger broadcast signals etc, and when really zoomed in shows saved stations.). Has noise reduction options, filtering (sides of trapezoid), and can record audio directly from the page, and then saved straight to the Files app.

Tons of noise and ghostly radio voices to be had :)

The above interface works better on desktop, but I've been considering this app. Sure it works better with touch:

Well this just shot up the top of my to buy list. I thought it was just another radio app but this looks great! Shame it’s getting reviewed by some people that either didn’t know what it was or what they were getting. Thanks!

It's a beautiful thing. Someone on Youtube shared it some years back, by way of using it in music projects. Got hooked for a while, but then kinda forgot about it. The app has been on my short-list for a long time, but kept getting pushed back for various reasons.

Also, there're other locations and interfaces to explore. Curious if the app allows different locations:

And I've just re-discovered the original video I saw:

    And this, from Doug :)

Thanks! I’ll definitely check these out :)

  • Also highly encourage all you noise fans to check this app out when it’s released. It’s gonna be a big one for me.

  • @a_n - loving where this is going. The dry/wet balance is a great addition and thanks for making the sliders more easy to move.

  • Just saw a short play-through video of this app. i wondered if you'd considered adding an automation recorder function to each x/y pad. Just enough to grab and loop a few short gestures, perhaps.

well, that's what i've started first for this app but just decided to drop this at least for some time just to focus on other things. if that gets much requested, i guess i'll try to add that. Otherwise the automation can be recorded in the AUv3 host app.
Or would it work if there would be a MIDI XY pad with automation recording (or is there already any i'm not aware of?)

  • Dang beta is full up. How I miss this one. Definitely was hoping to try before I buy since it’s now out

Not too familiar with how each app handles automation, or whether it could be easily controlled for a few X/Y pads, sliders etc. Just immediately looked like a candidate for being able to record gestures (perhaps even for the sliders also).
Anyway, I've yet to purchase it, so perhaps shouldn't be asking for new features just yet. Perhaps others will chime in on whether they think it would be something they'd find useful.

Also, have you considered a standalone version? It's only a semi-serious question. I realise that the convenience of having an app like this as Auv3 is very convenient, especially given the file-management foibles of iOS. However, when watching this performed, I did slightly mourn the loss of processes being more compartmentalised e.g Having a session that was only focussed on playing, with an audio-recorder to catch the happy accidents, before moving to the next stage. Perhaps I'm just over-romanticising the notion. And again, I certainly wouldn't expect any extra effort to be made for features or ideas that aren't considered worthwhile by a larger group of users :)

well, it's already both AUv3 and standalone if that was your question. Though there is no audio file recording, just considered that many users just use AUv3+AUM for features like that

To be clear, I wasn't suggesting adding a recorder as there're other ways to capture standalone recordings. Was just thinking more about the standalone, so it's nice to know it's already there.

    Cheers :)

  • hello again

The first update is on the way — welcome test it if you use the app and would like to see changes before the release.
It includes improved stereo processing algorithm and adds support for intel-based macs

  • please add more beta space

  • Cool!
