StrongSoft SS-VC1 Compressor is a comprehensive professional compressor featuring gain and envelope visualisation, as well as all the other features you'd expect from a compressor. It features three 'themes' - 'VIN' (vintage), 'MIN' (minimal) and 'SIN' (SSL inspired). The sound is accurate and transparent, and the visualisation helps you know what the compressor is doing.

  • I remember someone recently posted their 6 band EQ, or something, and someone responded if it isn’t the FabFilter brand EQ, IT AINT SHIT (basically). Thread instantly dead lol. I reached out to them, telling them about this community, maybe they want to throw out some free codes for review, for some of the more prolific members here, for SOME exposure, but no response….

I hear ya. I did the same and got the same results 🤷🏾‍♂️. Just putting it out there for those that care

  • Looks like a nice compressor app, but honestly I'll see what Logic Pro's compressor(s) is/are like and stick with that.

Logic’s compressors are good. A tip with them is to use the soft saturation and pull the output back about 3db. I prefer the uad comps because they have a little more “3d” to the sound, but I could do a whole mix just using the stock logic plugins and would have the tools to get a good mix.

  • We have tons of good or even great compressors. Is this bringing anything significantly new? And that interface!

Devs need to get creative, not just rehash the same well-trodden ground but with worse UIs

Yeah agreed. It’s still nice to have other compressors for AUM jams and others DAWs (if I ever use another) but then again I can always dump stems from AUM into Logic and use it’s compressors there.

That's excellent to hear! :) Maybe UAD will come to iOS, but they'd probably charge a dreaded subscription. 😂

Very true. :) I'd probably stick to AUM for my Ambient jams and only use Logic Pro for the mastering. However for the beat based stuff and "static" Ambient pieces, it should be easy to use Logic Pro for that if Garageband is anything to go by. (Garageband with full parameter automation would've been great, lol.)

GB really is a great little DAW. Definitely looking forward to Tuesday 🤩

I think the interface is actually quite good. It’s got the VU meter but also the Fabfilter kind of graphs, very useful to see what’s going on.

I know what u mean, it's more about the colours etc. Yes I'm a bit superficial like that, and it's something that does influence which apps I gravitate towards 😝

  • Resizing issues in various host has been fixed!

Nice looking features. Me thinks it needs an output control though, especially (or only) if input creates enhanced harmonic content.

Also, what is I/P, O/P? Only needs to be I and O.

  • Anyone tried this or their EQ yet? They look nice.

    It’s actually not bad 🤷🏾‍♂️

Cool! I’m not sure if anything will pull me away from my undying love of Toneboosters but I like the way these look.

I wonder what would make this compressor better than the Bleass/TB/RRS compressors, all these are cheaper than this one. So far I only use the RRS Comp 609, and their CL1 (which I only have the demo to try) sounds very interesting and tempting (for desktop users, this is the famous and free Molot comp). Anyway, these last 2 are going for €5,99 each and are quality.

I for one will NOT argue with this post being the RRS Comp 609 is my go-to compressor. I’m just an observer 🚶🏾

So you’d recommend that one over the other RRS compressors? I have them all downloaded now to do the trail but I haven’t had a chance to test them yet. I love the Ivoks synth, and the standalone filter they make from it.
