So when can we expect an AI DAW?

I understand there’s various AI music creation programs emerging on the web, wondering if anyone knows of this technology being wrapped up in a full daw of sorts.

I think it’s eventually going to be really great once the technology improves, it will be a case of your imagination being the only limit. A land of pure imagination if you will. But I would love a thing where you can input a small handful of songs into an AI and say “make me something that combines these songs” and then be able to tweak the results with all sorts of cool options. Have an album done in a weekend.

Thoughts?

  • Very many of Apple latest creative/pro apps job posting are for ML/AI 👀

  • If companies wait to get into the machine learning/A.I. game, they will be left behind. It's pretty obvious at this point.

I don’t see this this as my imagination being the only limit, I see this as my imagination being limited by what others did and what the AI can do.

I am not saying that AI tools aren’t fun, because they are indeed. But based on the results I had with AI art, they’re certainly not me. Of course I had some very nice images, and as I cannot draw, they were better than what I could have done. Some were even spectacular and I used a few in videos. But somehow I get more satisfaction of the scribbling I can do (though I may not publish it 😄).

  • Logic Pro is coming out tomorrow and it is going to be full AI. You only need to type the description of the song in the chat window.

    Just one: "Yuck!"

Having something create the music for me is the opposite of fun. WTF? I make music for the fulfillment of creating it from scratch. I already feel little sense of accomplishment by assembling pre-made loops. Having a computer do it for me and then trying to convince myself that I accomplished something? Bleh.

That's just for me though. Everyone is different, and that's a good thing.

I know from my friends working at Apple that Apple seek to find worldwide very good music dev with advanced skill and even for Apple they are very scarce. It is their among their main problems now.

I see AI to I.prove EQ and mastering choice if it enhance greatly the result not like actual mastering online services relying now on AI but that can make worst your tracks rather than better.

But I don’t really imagine what will be a complete AI Daw .
