  • @BerlinFx a very basic example that I find useful is the ability to add in an extra beat to a bar when you want a particular note to go on for a bit longer, or introduce a small dramatic pause. It is handy to able to temporarily switch between 4/4 and 5/4 (for example) to get you that extra beat.

Interesting perhaps to make more intense some part of House electro dance .

  • I meant no disrespect to any other genres of music, I have made and released EDM, played in rock bands and music ensembles of different stylistic genres. Yes, sometimes in one time signature… I personally find it more interesting to change/mix things up a bit…

    Best wishes to all.

I have been using the iPad in addition to the desktop Mac to make music since 2013. I started with Auria then, upon its release the Pro update and still do so. Yes, it has limitations some infuriating compared to desktop DAWs. I tried Cubasis 3 when it was on sale last year but returned it when I realised it has no time signature change option.
I hope the imminent Logic Pro release will at least allow the same features as Auria Pro, if not, I shall stay with what I know.

Noobs question : why is it so important for you to have time signature change option ?

I never use it for house, electro or ambient, so what is your music style that need it ?

    Just curious to learn .

Any style of music could use this. I write mostly pop/emo/indie/emo stuff and need it sometimes.

Back when I first started writing, I used to change between 4/4 and 3/4 or 6/8 regularly, it makes for really cool sections. You might just want a 5/4 intro before going into 4/4 for the rest of the song, who knows.

Plenty of electronic and ambient music has time signature changes. It’s not like it’s a super niche thing to do.

Thanks I understand better. I learn every day as I am open minded.

  • I somewhat regret Auria since it was a pain in the rear to use, but this regret developed long before May 9th (i.e. Logic Pro's release). 😂

In fact, Cubasis 2 is the reason I regretted getting Auria.

But do I regret Cubasis 3? Absolutely not! If something in Logic Pro didn't pan out (pun intended), such as tuning recorded vocals with Flex Pitch in Logic Pro compared to tuning vocals with Waves Tune RT in CB3, Cubasis 3 is still my fallback tool.

Good. I am too. It’s used a lot in jazz and classical and if done well it’s usually seamless. What is it? Giant steps by miles Davis that has a time and key change every measure or something?

  • How could I regret Auria, it's been at the centre of everything musical I've done for a decade. I probably spent a few hundred on it and all the IAPs, but without it I wouldn't have been able to have all that fun for all those years.

I'll almost certainly switch to Logic, but I'm very grateful for Auria, for me it's been an amazing DAW.

  • You mean the FF (like the bundle) can’t be used outside of Auria ? Also, as FF owners do you recommend just going for the bundle or selecting the two or three most needed (q3 c3 l3) and maybe the mastering one (Saturn?)

No problem with the current FabFilter bundle in the App Store.

Originally, before AUv3 existed, in fact before even IAA existed, you could buy the FabFilter plugins in Auria, and they ran as native Auria plugins, and obviously they were not compatible with other DAWs back then. This was back in 2012.

Once AUv3 came along that all changed and now everyone just uses the AUv3 versions.

  • As to which ones to buy, on a forum stuffed full of app junkies, the answer is always going to be get them all 😀

That the problem indeed. Now be selective and think do I really need it ?

  • I regretted spending money on Cubasis 3 within 10 minutes of first using it and finding it riddled with bugs. I hope Logic isn't.

Cubasis 3,5 is not buggy anymore they did a big work fixing Cubasis 3 since the release. So don’t regret anymore.

Logic iOS will have bugs to be fix like Logic Desktop it is how it is in the software world what you release for the first time have bugs you can’t avoid that.

  • I’ve just noticed a hilariously negative review on Auria Pro on the App Store – I mean, it’s not that bad still, is it?

Edit: Gif is referring to a resurrected thread. 🫣

  • Must admit I’ve not used Logic Pro yet. While I would definitely have bought it by now if it wasn’t a subscription, my needs really haven’t gone beyond what I have as of this time. I simply make ideas in simple hosts like EG Nodes, AUM, BAM or Drambo; or make sounds in other standalone iOS apps, then put the audio in Cubasis and put more stuff on top…..until I get bored and start a new idea!

Yes, Logic Pro interests me, but so do all apps, as I’m only playing at making music for fun. Besides, I would have only spent my iOS app money on other stuff. I have about 500 iOS music making apps on my iPad and about 300 deleted ones I no longer use. My iOS music making costs in the last ten years is still no where near what I spent on a home hardware studio back in the naughties!

No, it’s not, but, to me (bought everything in Auria/Auria Pro) it’s feels a little obsolete with it’s user interface.

But, Auria back in 2012 forward to around 2019 it was my goto DAW, but, things have changed, and the developer seems to have lost hope on Auria Pro, probably on low sales figures.

Overall, it’s a great app still, and as long as Logic Pro are subscription based both Cubasis and Auria Pro will be good alternatives…
