In the mixer, change the “output” of your track to a Bus (You might have to create one).
Then create a new “Audio” track in the arrange page.
Back to the mixer to set the “input” of that audio track to the Bus you created in previous step.
In the arrange page, arm both tracks to (R)ecord.
Start Logic recording, and play the instrument.
You can also add empty midi region and bounce it
I prefer this way quicker and more intuitive
Yes, resampling with busses is great. With Noises you can also set to latch and just record all the automation as you play. It will record triggers the dials - everything. Works great.
@ccwilsoN Hey Chris, we have a thread specifically for questions about Logic Pro:
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/55761/questions-about-how-to-do-x-in-logic-whether-logic-has-y-etc-etc#latest
Would be great if people confine questions to there as there is such a massive overflow of different threads about Logic, cheers!
This works for instruments that are either being played by the on-screen MIDI or external MIDI keyboard. But how do you get it to record the MIDI that’s being played directly on an instrument's GUI?
Reading this makes you realise how much easier AUM is for simple tasks like these, right?!
Hmmm…On balance, I'm not so sure. In both cases, initial setup can be mitigated to a large extent by using a template that has various commonly-used routings already set-up. But any extra stress on the Logic side, for me, is hugely offset by having the finished recording already sitting on the arrange page of a very powerful, fully-fledged DAW.
I just tried to bounce MiRack, Noises, Plaubeat and Spaceraft. Looks like it grabs all audio flow regardless notes data like Bitwig.
Every DAW should have AUM routing matrix! @j_liljedahl for president!
I’m finding it hard to picture this workflow. If you get the time and motivation, perhaps you could give us a step-by-step walkthrough?
No obligation, of course.
Just a matter of habit I guess.

Here you go, first example – just 4 bar loop, second – 35 bars with trails. Hope it helps
Hmmm, that’s interesting. I'm guessing it’s leveraging the, always listening, MIDI capture?
Many thanks!
Not sure about nuances, most important that it works)
Cheers!
My reasoning is only because there's no visual representation of anything being captured. It feels like a 'hack', albeit a very good one
I'd be tempted to still go ol' skool, though, as seeing the wave data being printed would make me feel a lot more confident that it was working.
Thanks, though. i will give it a try .
Sure both ways will have their places – bounce for drums or heavy modulated synths, live rec for jamming
When creating your bus for resampling you can also use the little slide out mix strip, hit the icon at the top and either select a current bus or create one. Saves a little time from heading to the mixer and searching for the track if you have a big project.
Of course this is easier if you’re looking to bounce an instrument track if you want to play it while bouncing like Drambo - which I can’t seem to get the automation to record.
That's really helpful. Thanks!
