Fireflies and Rainy Skies - first mix with Logic (Ambient Instrumental)
Started in GarageBand, finished in Logic. Most instruments are GB/Logic: Tape Piano, Alchemy, Drummer.
The guitars are real, a double-tracked acoustic, and a lead played through a Walrus R1 with the attack knob set high to create the swells and give that ghostly sound.
The loop recording and take folders are great for recording multiple takes and choosing the best one.
I had to fix some minor timing issues on the lead part, and even without transient markers it was OK: just use the scissor tool to cut enough regions and then the timestretch tool to adjust the audio - not quite as good as transient markers but workable.
the atmospheric sounds were made with Glitchscaper and Noises.
I did encounter a few bugs: levels resetting, plugins crashing etc... Hopefully things can only improve.

I liked that a lot! Thanks for sharing!
Like the ghostly Lo-Fi vibe of this, and the sloppy brush drums. Like walking home from the dentist as the anaesthesia wears off, the world slightly distanced.
Very nice and the guitar sound so good. Seems to me that Logic ios sound better than other daw on iOS. I notice that fact before and your wonderful track confirm it.

Thanks for listening ♥
Nice track, man! Love me some brushes
It would be very hard to come to such a conclusion unless you could do a blind-test involving identical audio being played from various DAW.
Thanks, and yes I'm sucker for brushes, I use them all the time. Either my own samples, or Soft Drummer, of the GB/Logic Drummers.
Had a fine ol' time in Logic's DMD with the brush kit, velocity set to 'Dynamic' with the threshold completely open. Very usable.
Curious which you used here.
I used the Drummer this time, but I was just looking into the DMD earlier today, there are lots of articulations once you expose them. I'll have to try that trick with the velocity.
It’s more responsive than I would have imagined. My next experiment will be to try tripling the snare pads. Two will be set at full velocity range, to make L & R work easier, with a third snare restricted to lower velocities. Should make ghost notes a lot easier to play
That sounds great. Finger drumming is my favourite method for creating drums so this should make for a nice approach.
I've always 'fingered' my drum parts. Nice to see a fellow finger-drummer.
If I sort the kit out (Likely to mess with more than just the snare), then I’ll see how I can share the preset.
Is it my imagination or was the time signature alternating between 6/8 and 4/4? I played it a few times trying to follow along. I loved it! I’ll have to try something like that. The sound effects at the beginning sounded like they were coming from outside my headphones. I had to take them off to check! Very cool effect. I really liked the laid back brushes and acoustic guitars. Nice track!
Yea the main piano theme is in 6/8, over a 4/4 drumbeat (when the drums come in). It works though, right? 😀
Works great. Sort of polyrhythmic, but resolves before the listener can figure it out. I gotta try that!
It also switches into 4/4 for all the other sections, so it kind of flows, I think.
@richardyot how do you compare the mixing environment and EQ, Reverb, and other Effects in comparison to Auria’s fabulous mixer and effects and mastering stuff? Auria had such a first class sound, and so far to me Auria’s like a Rolls Royce and iOS Logic Pro is more like a Lamborghini….
The built-in effects in Logic are plentiful and also very very good from what I can see. EQ, compression, reverb, and metering are excellent.
The mixer itself is also great, more flexible than Auria (summing stacks, folders, better bus system).
My only gripe is that I keep running into a bug where my levels are incorrect until I touch a fader (then the level jumps back to where it should be), this only seems to happen when I've made Stacks, but it's deeply annoying.
Things can only improve, indeed.
Under your most capable hands, my friend!
Excellent production, and your musicality and creativity is on full display.
Love the guitars, as usual!
And the drum is so nice!
Stay well, and keep making 'em great music!
Happy Memorial Day!
No idea what a Walrus R1 is but it gets my Seal of approval 😊
Great track 🙏
@richardyot : sounds great.
