Pianoteq versions and sound design

Comments

  • Having played around with Pianoteq I am seeing alot of sound design potential as physical modeling synth, particularly the morphing that lets you morph/hybrid several different physically modelled instruments

I agree and have been having a good time making new Presets and posting them on the Modartt “FXP Corner”:

    https://forum.modartt.com/fxpcorner/

I tend to create sounds that remind me of other “physical world” instruments like Harmonica, Calliope, Pipe Organ, String Ensemble, African Drum Circle, and a bass enhanced Marimba. All my presets have audio files to demo the results.

Now to use these presets everyone needs access to the instruments and tweaking capabilities. The good news is that anyone can DEMO all the instruments and extra features by using the “TRY Pro” option for 20 minutes at a pop in any DAW. Re-start the DAW for an extra 20 minute session… all in the interest of selling more products. Of course, TRY Pro drops some notes from the playback but only a few. For a FREE capability it’s a cool tool for music fools.

The typical user at the FXP Corner is someone that has tweaked the sound and touch of their favorite piano… go figure.

I’m hoping Mordartt realizes the potential of making a SynthTeq app that uses their models to let us make more synth-y sounds too. I’m sure we’d pay $20 for the capabilities

  • I'm just here to let you know that I really like this kind of content.
    Thanks!

Yeah a comprehensive physical modeling synth is one of the few gaps in iOS synth market, though I believe is one in logic now but haven’t had time to download logic yet. The hybrid morph thing is cool way of doing things, reminds me of vector synthesis feature in some old synths

  • Clear and useful presentation of the features and differences between the 3 versions! Thanks

Then one in Logic is fantastic! But I agree. Would love a standalone physical modeling synth on iOS. Hopefully one day.

Pianoteq is absolutely wonderful though. Can’t wait to buy the full version.
