Apple Logic Pro for iPad - Tutorial 43: Send MIDI Track to MIDI Track via Summing Stacks [Save CPU]

There's actually a bit easier and a bit less convoluted way to do this (ie. use multiple tracks that control the same instrument).

Create a midi-track with a midi-region and add as many notes as you need tracks for the instrument (C,D,E,F etc.) and do a 'convert -> separate by note pitch' on the region.

This way you'll get 4 tracks that use the same instrument and the mixer stays clean with only one instrument instance.

    Cheers!

    Super

This is also a very nice trick when using a drum-apps that do not support AUv3 multi-out (like the SR-88 from AudioThing).
Create the full pattern in one midi-region and do a separate by note pitch.

The separated tracks can then be individually bounced to get the audio for just the selected midi-region.

Logic is full of 'creative work-arounds' and super thanks for the videos!

  • In case you missed it...

Instead of arming the midi-tracks for recording (which is not always desired) you can enable input monitoring on the midi tracks you wish to receive midi from other tracks.

The switch for input monitoring can be enabled under customize track header.

The new midi-routing options are definitely a welcome addition :)
