Things - Crusher by AudioThing (Released)

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/things-crusher/id6449363172

Intro Price $1.99, Full $4.99 on June 18th.
Crusher is an easy-to-use Filter and Bit Crusher
effect available as an AUv3 plugin and standalone.

This plugin is inspired by the effect section of our instrument plugin Noises. Crusher features a multimode filter (lowpass, highpass, bandpass, notch) with 2 or 4-pole and an output gain, along with a crisp bit crusher (bits, downsample, mix) paired with a harshness control taken from our plugin Reels.

  • the only thing i want from them is outer space, my favorite tape echo on mac 😉

  • AudioThings is really generous with this. It's only $4.99 full price and $1.99 intro price. :) They really...wait for it...CRUSHED it with this one. 🤪😂

I think they save the best for last :)

  • The description does say $1.99 but the price here is $4.99, anyone else sees that too? Maybe a regional thing.

I see $1.99 in the US

  • Hmmm... potential candidate for 1st app for May'23 :sunglasses:
(I might get a few others too before May'23 ends, we shall see).

Your rapper persona is now, J-Pun 🙃
Do you “crush” a lot? 😂

  • Euro 1,99

  • Never mind, price is fixed now in my country.
Here's a first run with it:

  • Does it allow dragging of the filter as an X/Y pad or do you have to use the individual knobs to adjust?

LOL! Always crushing on lovely ladies here mate. ;)

  • I'm trying to avoid overlap for this kind of tools; how does it compare to ToneBoosters BitJuggler?

  • Come on, I have already 27 crushers. Is there really a market for other me too...?

The interleave setting for resampling on BitJuggler sounds very similar to this. The bit depth controls in BitJuggler are far superior to this. This does have more filter types than BitJuggler, though you probably have a bunch of filters anyway you could use along with this. In summary, if you have BitJuggler and some good filters you probably don’t remotely need this. For anyone wanting a nice bitcrusher with nice filters built in, at a cheap price, this Audiothing app on Intro price is probably worth grabbing.

That was a very good bit 😎

  • Nice! For $1.99 I went ahead and picked it up. Now I just need them to port Speakers. That’s the one I’m looking forward to the most.

  • Awesome price! I have it on desktop and have been waiting for it for iOS. Nice and easy to dial in something that sounds good and I like audiothings filters a lot

  • Yeah the filters are really great, and nice to have the visualiser for them. The harshness knob in the bitcrusher section is interesting. Can anyone think what the equivalent (if there is one) would be in BitJuggler or other crushing apps?

I’ll have to dive in more and see. Are you asking about the equivalent sound wise or feature wise?

    Both I suppose!

I can’t think of anything off hand. I’ll have to dive in some more!

So after doing a little messing around, I’m not sure if any other app has an exact equivalent to that. Seems like maybe it’s slightly mimicking an a/d converter maybe? If that’s the case Bitjuggler can sorta do that. But I’m not sure if that’s exactly what it’s going for.

My first thought was after hearing this audio demo is that is resonates well.. almost like that older Emu SP ring sound. Nice!
