Hot Strange - Fully Fungal (new song out - finally!)

Finally released another track that I’ve been working on for the last few days. Pretty proud of this one! A bit more straight forward than my last one, and maybe even a bit danceable. Would love any feedback, and hope you guys enjoy!

  • Also a little info:

The main synth chords are coming from Buttersynth being sequenced my MidiSteps and ran through MagicBlur.

Drums are from Pro Beats being ran through Crusher, Richter, and Mollilooper for some glitches.

Lead is Zeeon processed by Crystalline and the bass is Bassalicious2 running through MagicVerb and Medusa.

    All processed in Trinity.

  • Very well made. :) I like how nice the mix sounds, and definitely sounds like a more experimental EDM while still sticking to a key signature. I love it!

Much appreciated :) I’m happy with how it came out! Glad you liked the mix. I was worried it would sound too busy. Glad you gave it a listen 🎧

  • Nice! Definitely very 90s idm. Like jwm, I liked the off kilter tension between the beat and the main synth line and had to check whether that synth line was actually 4/4 or not. Nice when the lead came in too, that's a great lead sound!

Thanks man! I’m a fan of the off kilter stuff 😂 it’s still in 4/4 it’s just a bit wonky I guess haha. I’m glad you liked it! I hadn’t used Zeeon in a while and forgot how good the leads are. It’s just a slightly tweaked preset.

  • Wow, liked this, Hot Strange! Different from your first track field dreams, so kinda figuring out what to expect next time 😎
    Well done!

Thanks a ton 🙂 next one - if all goes to plan - will be my most experimental yet. I try to change it up a bit 😎

I have a full project I’m working on but that’ll be way later. Thanks for giving a listen! Glad you liked it

  • @HotStrange nice track. Good lead n groove. IMHOP the bass is too “muffled”. Just a suggestion try using two bass voices one for a deeper whomp (sub) and one for a transient. Same notes just two voices layered. My suggestion but not my original idea. Many producers do the same.

Yeah that definitely would’ve been ideal. I recorded it all on one track so my options were limited there unfortunately. I did what I could in Trinity to help and it made it a bit better, but had I had done it all in a DAW I for sure would’ve considered something like that. Need to focus more on using sub basses for the extra oomph underneath.

Thanks for checking it out and the helpful tips btw!

That's a good idea. Tbh...yeah, I didn't even notice there was a bass when Iistened on my phone yesterday and did wonder why maybe more variety hadn't been introduced. Listening back just now, yes I hear the bass, but only when listening very carefully with the phone close to my ears.

Yeah the bass gets almost totally lost on phone/iPad speakers. It’s sitting lower in the mix than I would like. But I only tested on headphones and car speakers so I forgot to account for that 🤦🏻‍♂️ the compressor and EQ on the bass drum is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that regard 😂

  • Nice track man. Especially liked that lead coming in at about 1.57, gave the groove variation. Good focus music for working to. Nicely mixed, I thought. And I liked the drums. My brain is toast, no further analysis from me.

Haha thank you so much ❤️ glad you enjoyed it! And the comments about the mix are appreciated. Mastering is something I’m still learning so I’m glad to know it doesn’t around horrible in that regard 😂

  • Nice track , I am now not active in the AB forum except for the creation section the mos friendly one here

Thanks 🙏 I understand. Hope you don’t abandon us completely. The creation section is a good one to be in.

  • Bass sounded fine to me on headphones, had a sort of space invaders feel to it. Enjoyed the rhythm and the lead. Very nice 👍

Appreciate that! Glad you liked it :) I had the bass running through Things - Crusher which might be why there’s a space invader feel 👾

  • Nice well done

Thanks @BerlinFx glad you gave it a listen 🎧

  • Good track. I like the hook, it has a kind of hopeful sound. Very fine effort. I listened twice!

  • I dig it. Kept it simple and made a statement.
