@azul3D_Apps Hi Fernando. This started out as a PM experiment using chords that should not sound good together.

  • Cool B) @Paulieworld! Nice vocals. Venturing out of common chord progressions can be rewarding.

  • Can you share your chord progression? We have been asking for more chord choices in the app and I hope we get them this year. Staying within the scales and secondary dominants dates the music to the 1800’s.

I tried some experiments layering the output of different keys like Cm and Eb Major which adds more interest to the note choices and makes it more modal. But the positive results were too low to pan that river for gold.

So more chords will help. @azul3D_Apps is concerned about breaking his melody code but I think he’ll like it if he can add this extra potentials to the UI and map melody to current chord. It should be a well liked update and worth requesting an IAP fee or at least tips from those that keep mining it for content.

  • @McD Hey bro. Haven’t heard from you for a while. Hope things are going well. I would love to share the chord progression, but I honestly don’t remember. I just started mixing and matching things that shouldn’t sound good. Most of them were horrendous, but I was patient and kept trying. I recently rediscovered Porcupine Tree after decades of not listening to music and I sort of went in that direction.

I posted something about a week ago called The Family Piano. I used Piano Motifs, but only used Mixolydian motifs. No particular reason. I just liked the sound of it. Sounds like an alien race from Star Trek.

Captain… I'm picking up a distress signal from a Mixolydian starship.

I’m about to post something shortly that uses Dm, Cm, and Am. It’s called Rapid Eye Movement. I think I may have stumbled on a new genre. I think I’ll call it Ambient Fusion. I think you might get a kick out of it. I would love to hear your thoughts. Have a good one!

  • 1:10 + excellent.

Thanks Mike. I was concerned that you might have been pissed about my spongeworthy comment. I’m sure you know that it’s a high compliment. My wife said I was spongeworthy!

Digging the Seaboard sounds. Do you sit at a bench, or is it a strap-on? Just kidding!

I liked the sound of it too. About 30 motifs, with layering! It’s worth a listen: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/55865/the-family-piano

I guess music these days is more profitable using loops and a Mac.

  • Good to try other chords and scales. Fusion, house, electro use and experiment more that many traditional pop songs.

  • The chords work pretty well. I really love the vocal, the sound/processing on it is very nice, and the voice sounds great.

  • @BerlinFx @richardyot That approach is sort of like the broken clock that’s right twice a day. I just kept beating it until I found something that sounded acceptable. I have to confess, the vocal part is a Blocs Wave sample. I have hundreds of those to work with. I like that guy’s voice. He sounds sort of prog rockish. I have been trying to find someone to add vocals to my stuff, but nobody seems interested. If you are ever interested, please let me know.

  • Finding a vocalist is hard, I was in the same situation ten years ago so I decided I would learn to sing myself rather than wait for someone to come along. I was in my forties at the time, but after a fair amount of practice I am a passable vocalist now :)

Alternatively you could look at hiring someone on Fiverr, there are lots of singers there, and they're not too expensive. Some people charge £30 for a track.

I have my hands full already with my own stuff and the work I do with Jankun, all my time is pretty much taken up with those projects.

  • Wasn’t expecting the vocals, not usually a fan but didn’t mind these for some reason ?
Liked the change at 2:45… keep them coming 😊

Complex! I like the understated vocal.

  • Instalisten!
Thanks for another very enjoyable track 😊🙏🏼

  • Nice one! The lead around 1:10 is great. The drums are a bit weird but I like the mood of the song, well done!

  • @Stochastically @rs2000 @unlink Thank you fellow music lovers! That little violin bit is a Blocs Wave sample. They actually have some decent stuff, and it’s cheap! I like weird drums. What can I say? I could have never gotten any of my former drummers to play it. I love being a member of this forum. You guys are great!
