Sorry everyone. But the Wingie II rocks: The Rule Of Three
“Mind the Threefold Law you should, three times bad and three times good.” - The Witches Rede.
The word "rede" derives from Middle English, meaning "advice" or "counsel". In the neopagan religion of Wicca a ‘rede’ is a key moral precept. In this case, that whatever be wrought, by magickal means or otherwise, it shall return thricefold upon the initiator. Wiccan karma…
Couldn’t help myself. Definitely trying the patience of those here with the quantity of tracks lately, but hey… Messing with the Wingie II again, I couldn’t resist, well, if not ‘singing’ into it, at least vocalising with a musical intent. Which is literally a first for me in 61 years.
It really is a wonderful gadget , and the only one used here, to capture both the ahem, vocal, and create all the bells, bonks, plucks and other resonant goodness. A metric f*ckton of FX, obvs, but no instruments, hard or soft, save the Wingie. I recorded the feedback lead by the simple expedient of bringing my headphone encumbered bonce close enough to the Wingie for it to start howling, then sloped off again. All recorded directly into AUM on my sofa through the Evo.
Ah, technology!

Eerie stuff. Sounds great. I had to look up what a Wingie was/is
Lovely textures, the vocal is haunting and beautiful.
Lovely, Irena!
You got me reading about the wingie ii too
Very interesting, had heard of that dev and the wing pinger before. Such an interesting dev, and I love that he put the labels in Chinese as well as English. Looks like something @brambos might consider for future app inspiration?
I’ve not allowed myself to look at these for a while now, lovely wee things, and something I’ve fancied having a crack at building with tubes sometime, if I can crack my low volts/low gain problem… I think in software, doesn’t resonatedo do similar things, and not to say his name three times, but I’m pretty sure something could be concocted in the dreaded dRamboidalizer?
Gorgeous. You casted a love spell with this one. It should come back to you threefold. ❤️
Really love that , mystery magical
Really lovely piece, another instrument mastered!
All I can say is...wow!
Actually, there are two instruments at work here - the Wingie and your voice.
Both sound rapturously lovely. 🙂
Your music and your sense of humour never fail to put a smile on my face. Thank you for sharing.
This! I love the thoughtfulness, intelligence, leftfield vibes and humour Svetlovska puts into her posts. There are few threads on the ABF I look forward to as much as Irena’s, and this from someone who doesn’t pay that much attention to the Creations thread!
Well, gosh! Thanks peeps, for all the listens and lovely comments! Quite made my day, and somewhat assuaged my guilt at buying another gadget. (I had a bit of luck recently so I have set aside some funds to buy toys.)
The Wingie II really does punch above its weight in the rarefied ‘boutique’ space, I think, for the relatively reasonable price of £168. It probably does nothing I couldn’t achieve, eventually, with my Rings, Elements, and filter bank modules, but it is just a very instinctual, self-contained thing to pick up and mess with for those random, experimental, spontaneous sampling sessions, and pairing with the Evo, the iPad and a power bank, that can be done pretty much anywhere indoors or out, whilst the same cannot easily be said for my eurorack. It’s tempting even to consider a second, set up with the alternative Benjolin firmware…
I really would urge @Krupa in particular to give it a look. It scratches a similar itch as the Lyra 8 for me, in that it is inherently improvisational, and that is very liberating, especially for me as formal musical skills are not required.
Thanks again all! Happy Friday
Enjoyed it, interesting gadget and especially liked (from the web) the text on the back…
“ For what breaks out in tongues of silence, the note resonating with love will not be unheard.” 😊
This is wonderful! I’m going to have to look up more info on this thing…
