MIDI IDAM keeps disconnecting when laptop sleeps
Every time I wake my laptop from sleep or when I open the lid, I need to go back to Audio Midi Setup and re-enable iPad (hence then re-select MIDI IDAM as the Midi output in the IOS app I use).
I have an old iPad air2 (my laptop is up to date). Has this been fixed in more recent IOS?
Is there a way to have some sort of script making sure the iPad stays enabled in Audio Midi Setup?

Sucks, right?
Our of curiosity, I looked into using AppleScript on the Mac side, but even if that enable button could be pressed on wakeup, it wouldn't reconnect the midi output on the iOS side, so I didn't bother figuring out the laborious scripting hoops that would have to be jumped through on the Mac side.
MacOS AudioMidi setup isn't directly scriptable so you have to figure out what to do with GUI scripting. There's no equivalent to MacOS scripting on iOS that goes to the level needed reconnect midi in a target app.
There have been no changes on the latest iOS to address this iDAM behavior. It's not really broken, but simply designed this way. You'd need to do a feature request and get Apple's attention to hope for it to change.
honestly it does, it's these little things, when you have an idea, but there's no sound and you have to troubleshoot before you can get back to your idea.
@wim Thanks for the reply! Would a small Midi interface help you think? Maybe it would keep connected to the laptop.
You could try two inexpensive USB Midi adapters like this connected back-to-back (in to out, out to in) with adapters like these. But be sure they're returnable in case it doesn't work the way you need it to.
... or just turn off sleep on your Mac.
thanks @wim !!
