Thor still amazes me

I still go back to this synth Swiss Army knife
It’s like the Moog of the digital era.

Yeah, great synth, and, with an amazing GUI!

The way we can put a finger on a controller and move away from the center to fine adjust the value, genius!

Pity that Propellerhead/Reason Studios has abandon this - really sad decision…

But it’s there if you restore your iPad, but no one can buy it new…

I two weeks from now it’s Thors tenths anniversary on Appstore…

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • One of the best synths out there. It still is in my top 10 even if it is not AUV3

  • A very capable synth. I do hope someone creates a AUv3 wrapper for these types of synths. Maybe it’s not possible.

The filter sounds so analog.. I yet found one as tough. I updated the permissions on the link. It’s nothing special.

  • Great synth to sample since it isn’t an audio unit. Drop it sampler and do what you gotta do. Def have not taken it out the library. Very unique and deep sounds. Maybe one day it will be upgraded.

I don’t think it will ever get upgraded. I think the dev team have long gone.

    Works fine in AUM

No, the developer is there, but, focus has been on Reason Compact on iPad/iPhone, but almost, the big things that happened on Reason Studio the last two years…

Since the company went from a private owner (the family that started the company) to a multinational owner, it’s all about the money…

Yeah, I agree that Reason was great, but now it kinda lost it’s soul.

It looks like at least some of the original dev team no longer work for the Props. It’s a pity that they can’t keep developing for it.

  • This is from the same dev as the original Rebirth, right? Propellerheads?

I create the sounds and video record and drop it into koala. Simple fast workflow for me. It’s more of sound fodder now

Reason was fun to use years ago. It has become a bit cumbersome over the years with the added annoyance of requiring online authentication. They just announced that they are doing away with that with version 12.6 which also has the added benefit of native M1/M2 Silicon support. I received a code for an upgrade discount which would allow me to purchase the full 12.6 for $79US. Very tempting.........

I do something similar, with Thor, and any of the older IAA synths, and thats record them in Loopy Pro. Then, I can take said recordings anywhere; my Drambo projects, AUM sessions, or even Logic Pro for the iPad.

The workflow @stormywaterz describes does come in handy for snagging samples off of YouTube and the like. And Koala’s built in “import video” feature does indeed make it a very smooth process.

Reason 12 is good despite the upgrade palaver.

Reason in a rack inside Logic gives Reason a new lease of life for me...

I bought the update from JRR a while back, missed out on this price though! This is the best price you'll probably get to upgrade to 12. At least it's the lowest I've ever seen it.

Never thought I could use the same feature for YouTube. What a game changer. Thanks.

Koala was the game changer for me with the screen record.
