Doesn’t work with 16.5
Apple needs to fix it
Sorry bud
The fact that Apple hasn't released a hot fix to resolve this issue is a bit concerning.
iOS/iPadOS16.6 which should drop soonish is supposed to fix this...
...have no other 'work arounds' for this at the moment...
(If you're on >16.4 you should be able to enable the option to download betas in the settings).

Hello. @Daveypoo
From the end of page 3 to page 4 of the linked thread above, you will find several posts saying that the CCK problem seems to have been resolved in beta v16.6.
However, it is possible that I am misunderstanding the context of the topic.
I cannot confidently determine if you should keep or return your new CCK.
So please do not trust what I have written in this post. You have to decide for yourself if this information is correct or wrong.
It's just annoying and frustrating. I mean, I'll keep the extra one and have a spare, but WTF Apple? Way to break something that worked just fine. I would expect that the USB port would be the thing that didn't work, not the charging pass through...
Grrr - I was going to do more music this weekend but anything intensive will have to wait.
Yes this was a true bummer. Spent hours on phone with really interested apple support person. Though no work around was discovered the problem was resolved when updating to 16.6 public beta. Been smooth sailing since.
The 16.5 update was not 'bad' for everyone, I mean I can now use a generic USB-C -> Lightning cable without any dongles to transfer pictures from my iPhone 8 to the M1 iPadPro which I'm quite happy for
(Prior to 16.5 I hard to hook the iPhone to the iPad using the CCK to be able to do this).
Yea how long has it been already… weeks…
The workaround I’ve found and reported two weeks ago here seems to work for most: use a usb-c to lightning cable with PD charger or powerbank. More than 20W seems to be suitable too, I have tested with 60W only.

Where do we raise this issue with apple again? Cause I'm not updating before this is is fixed 😁
Apple is taking care of it in 16.6.
