Cycle / loop button in Drambo 2?

Hi,
I’m trying to find the loop or cycle button in Drambo 2. I watched a few tutorials online and they all have a cycle button on the top. I don’t see this on mine. Maybe I’m being an idiot but I can’t find it. I see it in song mode, but when I disable it, it still loops to the previous scene. How them does the song actually stop ?

It's at the right-hand side of the patterns grid now.

Yes, I saw that, but when I deactivate this loop button, it still cycles. I would think that when it's deactivated, it would stop at the end. For example: If I have two scenes running, the last scene ends by jumping back to the first scene.

Its a clip launcher that evolves.

Dont see it different to a timeline.

If my theory is correct ( Spock mode )

A cilip launcher across multiple ipads.

Is the only way to gain a semi timeline, whilst being able to edit.

    On a pattern basis.

    Where as timwlines wouldnt work.

  • Theory.

    Iv made my setup.

Still wondering if it will work.

    Gazes at ipads.

I don't quite get it. This is not a timeline-based song mode. An MPC60 works kind of like this or even Korg Gadget, where it ends if the cycle is off.

Even a timeline for example in Ableton ends at the last clip.
    ??

  • I thought the same but I guess you have to make a song.

Might be needed for automation, calculation.

I think if they added a "repeat 0" in the scene properties, the problem is solved.
I am trying to make a song, but it loops back to the beginning. I guess I can add a blank scene at the end for now.
For me this makes no sense, or it's a bug.

Almost all songs have a beginning and an end and not in a loop.

Hmm I wouldn’t nearly say almost all songs. Depends on the genre I guess.

Everything has a beginning and an ending (eventually), even our sun. It's life.
Even cycles will change and end.

So I guess you just need to wait long enough and it will eventually end. 😉

Joking aside - this is a question that comes up regularly. It's a design decision, not a bug. There's a recent post in the BeepStreet forum about this ... I assume that's you? If not, you may want to head over there to chime in.

    Hehe..
yeah. I’m interested what is it with this. I guess it’s not important really, but for me weird. Like I said, I can always add a blank scene at the end when recording.

    Yeah, that’s my post too.
    Thx.

  • There is a reason for this but I understand why you would want it to stop. A blank clip is probably the best option.

Do you know what is the reason for this ?

The same reason similar apps don’t have a play through once option. It’s usually not something that is thought about when it comes to this stuff, you usually just press stop. :)

But it’s a good idea to be honest.

  • I guess in a hardware simulation of a step sequencer or non DAW gear, the stop 🛑 is the only method. I thought this was a kind of song mode, but maybe more of a live arrangement thing. Whatever it is, still love this app! Amazing Drambo !

There are various workarounds to this.
I'm usually just adding an empty pattern to the end of my songs so I have time to hit STOP if I don't want the song to start again.

But the "proper workaround" would be to e.g. send a MIDI note from inside any rack (perferably a very low or high one because the learned note will be blocked for note input to the rack), route it to MIDI Out set to "MIDI feedback" and MIDI learn the PLAY button to that note message. Adding that note to the track will let you programatically stop the sequencer playback.
Make sure you add MIDI note filters to the track after MIDI learning to avoid all other (musical) notes being fed back to the same track.

Thanks, but an easy fix for the development side of Drambo would be maybe add a “repeat 0” in the scene settings. I think this may work too, but then if one would want that scene to play more than one time and then stop, it would be a problem. I’m sure it’s not hard to implement.
