Loopy pro is far better than Logic iPad for live jam

edited June 2023 in Logic Pro

This is my experience rather than an opinion even if @ErrkaPetti attack me as I dare to state that fact. @ErrkaPetti put me away of ABF as I state my opinion thank to its censorship I have more time for doing serious music and preparing a big jam.

I am an amator preparing this jam with great professional, 2 DJ famous ones and a great sound engineer that do the mixing and mastering. I tried to use Logic but it was a nightmare for a big live compared to LoopyPro and the DJs will use Ableton live and it is really great daw for live.

Quickest to set up. Nearly any professional use Logic live they prefer to use Ableton live or other tools. Logic live was a response to Ableton Live used by the best famous live performer but Logic Pror Logic IPad it is far away of what you can do in live and live constraints on a stage.

Loopy pro ! Thanks to @Michael Loopypro deserve its Pro word and is far better in live than loops live in Logic and the same for Ableton Live.

Logic stay a good traditional Daw not at all fit for live. AUM is better too for live than Logic IPad . If you want a tool to do live it is not Logic.

This is starting to sound like the numerous “hardware vs software synths” and “in-the-box vs hardware outboard mixing” debates on Gearspace and other forums. Let’s not forget the “tube amp and pedals vs modeler” wars.

Make music, not war. Who needs to argue about this? How blessed are we that we’ve got all these options!

Censorship by @DovJ against freedom to state about experience and opinion afraid @Michael we have no right anymore to speak about our experience with LoopyPro and how we love it.

This forum is now a Logic IPad only forum ?

Why not sing praise of Loopy Pro instead of pitting it against Logic?

Loopy pro with all the new upgrade is a daw not only a Looper and a daw that is think for live so compare to the part of Logic the Live Loops make sense. I am not talking about Logic but the live loop in Logic compare to how better is for live purposes LoopyPro that fit better live requirement.

It is a focus post on a specific use of Logic IPad

  • I like X!

Thanks to have make LoopyPro a great live apps with big updates compare to LoopyHD at the beginning, now I will not post anything more here appart my music as people here don’t want me to express my opinion better to go away of ABF except to post my creations.

  • I agree that Loopy Pro and AUM are much better for live stuff than Logic. I’m warming up to it’s clip launcher a bit more now but even it feels more like a studio tool to arrange with clips rather than perform with them, but I’m still testing the waters there.

You should also look more into Launchpad. I think you’ve said you use it before. Loading your own loops and making your own live effects makes for some really cool live jams, even if used in standalone mode. LK in AUM can be very fun too. Luckily we have so many options right now.

On the iPad yes, but again it depends what you’re doing.

It wouldn’t be wise to use the first release of anything for a live performance. :)

I thought this was obvious. Is someone arguing for Logic for live use?
I 've been using Ableton Live since 2003, I've been using Logic since 97.
My pure focus the past 10 ish years is live.
Loopy Pro is the absolute best and nothing is (very) close.

    Argue elsewhere.

  • Can you make a cross feedback loop in loopy pro mixer through au chains and record the output? Like on real mixer routing sends to channels?

Mate, you posted this in the logic sub forum, hard not to expect at least some backlash haha

I really don’t want to get involve in any of this but it seems like, you’re calling it censorship if someone disagrees or doesn’t align with your opinion? I can’t see anyone calling for you not to post or anything along those lines? But it could be that I missed some previous shenanigans, can’t imagine the calls of censorship come out of nowhere. I think a lot of people here are just trying to tell you that there may be better ways to express your opinion in a less confrontational/argumentative way, which would encourage a more engaging (and frankly more interesting) conversation.

The internet is full of places to bicker and shout at clouds so I think a lot of people would prefer if ABF didn’t become another place for people to argue with randomers online.

I’m saying this as someone who fully agrees with your overall point. I have zero interest in logic on the iPad and I think Loopy is one of the best live jamming tools ever.

Peace and love from Berlin 🫡

Well said. These are hard times. Lots of people going through difficulties, whether real difficulties now or fear about the future. This forum is great, generally, but there has been an increase in aggressive vibes here over the past year or so, the change is noticeable. I've also been a bit less gracious than I could have been at times. To anyone I've rubbed the wrong way unnecessarily, apologies! We all need to make a concerted effort to be gentler with each other, even when being critical. Peace ✌️

  • Very much looking forward to midi doughnuts.

I don’t believe I said anything that came even close to calling for censorship. I hope I haven’t offended anyone, but I am saying let’s be respectful of each other’s opinions and offer information, not insults.

Thank you @ronnieb and @Gavinski for your wise words.

Music is a such a great way to communicate emotion and to help humans be happy. My studio is also my office, and when work has pushed me over the limit, moving over to my keyboards and guitars and working on a piece is so calming and mood-enhancing.

Let’s keep this a helpful discussion. No one is wrong just because they like product x better than product y.

I agrée with you , when I was here it was in a positive manner but if someone hurt me personally I should respond. I did it it is close for me and It is better to have a gentle and helping forum, humans and be kind is more important indeed than just fight for tools.

By the way I want point out that I have nothing against Logic or subscription and never told any opinion about that Logic was under subs as it is really cheap sub , I subscribe to it for one year. In my flow like many music lovers you need to use not only One daw but other daw according to your way to do music and amator or pro do the same way in iOS or Desktop.

Loopy pro for Live, GarageBand to draw in 10 minutes an idea , Cubasis if I need just to do a small number of tracks with. AUM to create qui l’y a sample or a jam , Logic for more specific tracks. To tell the true didn’t have many time to learn deeply Logic IPad keep it for later when I can quietly dive deeper in it. Even you can love sometimes to sit and play in a real piano or with a nice acoustic guitar whatever the brands are.

A music lover must be open minded and at same time find what fit him the best not to be fan only of a tool like you can be fan of a football team. We are not here to fight just to create and be part of a community.

Peace, keep as you can in good health and appreciate the small things in life. In these difficult times music is for many a therapy so we need to be gentler including me

Can you give a specific example of what you mean? There are certain kinds of feedback chains possible. If you are specific we can advise if that scenario is possible.

Yeah, the song is indeed not the most relevant here, except for the fact that in our worst times, we tend to act arrogantly as the dickhead Mark E. Is impersonating at the beginning of the track. Eventually, we are all somebody else's dickhead. 😄
Agreeing on the fact that the forum changed a lot lately. It started one year ago but got worst after the launch of Logic Pro for iPad (which is btw a benediction for my workflow). Having new members joining is great per se, except when someone brings the arrogance and animosity that can be found in other forums around. Anyway, just another dickhead's rant 🤣

Mark E Smith calling out dickheads... Yes, very meta 😂 Good to see you btw, and glad you're enjoying Logic. One man's benediction is another man's crucifixion. Thus it is and always has been I guess.

    Mark E Smith on musicians:

'I can't stick musicians. I've thought about this. I can't stand them, and being stuck in a studio with them'

I'm sure some ex-Fall members might have expressed it like this:

I can't stick Mark E. I've thought about this. I can't stand him, and being stuck in a studio with him' 😂

Peace ✌️

I’ve noticed it as well and have also probably been a bit less gentle and empathetic than I should’ve been. Wise words here.

As far as I can tell the forum has largely the same amount of Drama as before.

People getting hot about their favourite app, People’s egos hurting. People talking random unrelated shit. People bringing their personal stuff to the fore. People getting banned and people leaving after a serious argument only to return under a better alias.

Remember we’re just a bunch of humans with a common interest but, after all, we’re still humans with our egos and sensibilities. Shit happens.

I have to admit, to me these are often just pop corn moments.

I might be wrong but I think mostly, the perceived increase in drama could be due to a massive increase in membership. This as well as quite an age span.

More people commenting, starting random threads etc. More people, more chaos. A bit like the current situation on the planet. More people, more food, more production, more shit, more requirements, more moderation.

There’s talk of population collapse. I say: bring it on!

Lol, yeah. Population collapse is likely the only thing that will save us from ourselves, or at least, save the planet and other species, which, frankly, matter a lot more than we do.

Why this response , simply as there are some anger about new comers going to ABF as you should be happy to have more new members.

As a new comer ABF I understand that serious new comers have questions but doesn’t know where to go sometimes.

I understand too that here you got a bunch of old members that were quietly together speaking strange esoteric language between them that newcomer don’t understand.

Just stating to them you need Drambo , you need that or that as you don’t ask if they have no budget , what type of music they do and what are their skill level is not helping these guys. As example newbie ask what he need to buy as FF apps , he doesn’t know what is a limiter and you tell him buy Fabfilter Pro L2 .

Better to take time to understand that is a beginner (like you were 20 years ago as the club of old guy is nearly over 60 or even 70 here) and to bring limks to explain what and why he need to make a mix and that Tonebooster apps are less expensive for a beginner than FF apps isn’t it ?

Be gentle and helpful with beginners , they are not troll and if a guy that got 18 years old asked you years ago this question is now Ed Sheran or will become perhaps a great name in music and now know far more than you than me too abut Daw , mixing , music.

Sometimes I have the feeling that ABF is like an old club of old grumpy gentleman. It remember me sometimes the old guys at philately clubs when I was teenage.

Now I am here only for the iOS app sales thread, the iOS app updates and to post and listen the creation section.

To learnt interesting tips not at all as it is more efficient for me pay an old sound engineers to teach me and to collaborate with professional that help me to get efficient worflow. My aim is to know more in 1 year of being focus everyday on learning and doing hundred of tracks good and bad that you learn in 10 or 20 years.

Nothing against you just that I as successful doing that method all my professional life learning from top peoples so I apply it to my music hobby I pay to learn from top people and I collaborate with friends that are great producers.

Be gentle and never underestimate new comer and accept that they can be better than you after few years of hard learning.

Bye bye guys you will be quiet between you as I will read only not write again here and listen good creation

Hang on, I'm not sure why you are directing this at me. In very happy to have new people here, I don't consider myself an expert and I don't mind anyone asking questions. I am very helpful and I also often need to ask questions myself. My response to supadom was a response to his comments about world population explosion. It was not in any way a comment on this forum or a judgement on newcomers or beginners, that is a complete and utter misinterpretation from your side
