KORG iDS-10 will be discontinued 6/28

I wonder if a new app or gadget will replace it?
Comments
Maybe Detune can't justify providing support anymore? Here is the English Wikipedia on the main founder, iDS-10 stuff at the bottom.

I never had it but that’s a bummer. Here’s hoping maybe an MS10/20 mixture is coming as an AU.
That would be nice as the speech synthesis is pretty nice as is the synth engine which does things (PWM) the iMS-20 doesn’t do…
We’ll have to wait and see, I suspect that iElectribe is next cut…
Thanks for the heads up. Will make sure it’s installed in some of my legacy devices.
Never bought iElectribe despite being such a huge fan of the hardware series. Having the MS sounds as an AU would be fantastic. Electribe in AUV3 form would be a real winner for me too. They made Electribe Wave and Module AU so…stranger things have happened.
I'd expect iElectribe Gorillaz to go first. It was forked from an older version of iElectribe than the current version, and hasn't been updated for things like external tempo (iElectribe obeys tempo changes in AUM, iElectribe Gorillaz doesn't).
Despite loving Korg and Gorillaz a lot, I forget that app even exists. So yeah that makes sense 😂
It's kind of cool since it supports switching each of the 8 waveforms between 16 different samples at each step (parameter lock). But not applying the iElectribe updates to it was uncool. And the output isn't royalty free either.
At this point i doubt we‘ll see anything new from Korg for ios. Looks like they gave up on it.
The question is, how do they do on desktop?
Is the Gadget AU updated since release, and have they add any new Gadgets to the package since release?
The thoughts about Korg giving up iPad/iPhone scene can be correct - pretty surpriced that I can load every app I bought on Appstore and install it on my M1 Macbook Pro - Korg Modules, Korg Gadget, iKaosollator, iM1, iPolysix, iWavestation, Odyssei etc etc…
I just got Kaoss Pad vst on desktop, quite like it, great friend for Endlesss. Electribe came out recently too but have not go it, maybe when it is on sale.
But yah, something tells me Korg have maxed out their upsell presence on iOS and the books are balanced with the apps now posing mainly as marketing 'brand awareness' items without much need for further development on the platform.
I’m another fan of the speech synthesis.
It is remarkably good.
Isn't the Electribe Wave already a great successor to iElectribe?
I think it is.
aside from being a groovebox they are very different though
Sad to hear this, I’ve always found iDS-10 to be one of those toys that turn out to be far better than they’ve got any right to be.
I was about to retire my Air 2, looks like it’ll live on with a few choice apps installed, this being one.
I do hope Korg does some sort of synth groove box as AUv3
They have already done Electribe Wave, which I see as a spiritual successor to iDS-10.
Completely different apps. Electribe Wave is a wavetable-synth with sampled drums, iElectribe is a drum-synth based on the Electribe ER-1.
I’d never really given it a look, perhaps I will now! Thanks
They feel totally different though. Electribe Wave is a wavetable based groovebox with a new synth engine and iElectribe is a clone of the classic ER-1 which is basically a drum synth with minor synthesis.
Is iDS-10 the one that had all the "secret Easter eggs" in it?
Did anyone unlock them all?
Nope but I really do wish Korg would 'resurrect' it as a Gadget as the speech-synthesis and synth part are very nice and would be perfect as 'Gadgets'.
Nope? iDS-10 did have the Mystery Bingo where doing certain tasks let you unlock colored patch cables, red keys, and more presets.
I have a few of them still remaining 'unsolved', when completing the mystery bingo the colors of the patch cables get changed so one unique color per patch cable from what I know...
(I've tried to follow the solutions step by step without much success).
