Vid & Giveaway: How to Use KQ Voice to Stream Lumbeat Hip Hop Drummer to Logic Pro!

See the pinned YouTube comment for details of how 3 winners can win ANY Lumbeat app for iOS!

I already made a detailed 25-minute spoken walkthrough on using the Loopback plugin in the KQ Voice app to send audio from AUM to LOGIC PRO. See that video for more advice on this set-up. That video by the way still currently has a giveaway for 5 winners to win any app by Kymatica, the developer of AUM. You will find a link to that video in the pinned YT comment for this video.

Now, in that video I mentioned that there was a little bit of latency. However, a new update for KQ Voice just came out and there is absolutely ZERO LATENCY!!!! You can see this near the end of the video, where I unmute the Loopback instance in AUM - the timing is flawless.

This means that although Logic does not officially support IAA apps, you can in fact still use your IAA apps in Logic Pro!!!

By the way, Hip Hop Drummer, despite not being AUv3 is EXCELLENT. There is a link to it on the appstore in the pinned YT comment.

If you find this video helpful, please give it a thumbs up and write a comment. Cheers! Gav

  • IAA apps tunneled into Logic Pro without latency?

Well. This could be useful at some point.

Thank you for documenting the app required to pull this off: “KQ Voice Plugins” from Ryouta Kira.

I wonder if there might be other DAW’s that can be the sending Hosting:

    Loopy Pro?
    Drambo?
    AEMS?

Other IAA apps should be tested too. This page and a link to the video should be added to the Wiki on an IAP interop page
Or at least the page of good links to information you can use.

  • Definitely super useful. Maybe @RyoutaKira could mention the hosts he's tested with?

  • @Gavinski Thanks man for this information. I’ll continue to use certain iaa apps until I cannot anymore. This video was super useful.

Tested: Drambo and Loopy Pro work as Inputs using AUM for the Output.

Yeah, I think people will feel happy that they can continue to use their IAA apps in Logic, especially after the new KQ Voices update allows for no noticeable latency. Amazing.

    @McD thanks for checking!

Why use AUM as a go-between? You could use the plugin directly in Loopy Pro or Drambo when they are hosts.

I didn’t test but I’m assuming Loopy Pro and Drambo can probably be the IAA host with the restricted DAW as the target. I’ll leave that to someone that is subscribed.

The vid shows anyway that it can do zero latency streaming from aum to logic. If anyone checks whether using other hosts to send to logic also have no latency that would be useful for sure

  • Is it no-latency forwarding or is it achieving no apparent latency in hosts with latency compensation via accurate latency reporting to the host?

AUM has latency compensation and I am guessing Logic Pro does also. A lot of hosts don’t have it. So, it would be interesting to know.

Really don't know, but what I can say for sure is that in the first iteration of the app there was huge latency when trying to send Lumbeat Hip Hop Drummer loaded in AUM to Logic. Auv3s loaded in AUM in that first iteration sent audio to Logic with no latency. Now, with the recent KQ Voice update, Hip Hop Drummer loaded in AUM is sending audio to Logic with no latency at all. I'm sure over time others will comment if they get problems using other hosts.

  • Winners!
