Song using Emvoice Lucy with Bleass Voices
This is a first experiment to try adding vocals to a track. The vocal was created on desktop using Emvoice with the “Lucy” singer.
The backing track was done on the ipad but I can’t recall the synth I was using - got too many.
I shaped the voice around that track then brought it all back to the iPad and combined the two tracks using Audio Evolution. Some Eos reverb.
On the voice track I used the new Bleass Voices to give Lucy some harmonies. I like how you can use the MPE keyboard to bend the harmonies.
The words are just stream of consciousness based on my wife’s love for her house plants with some info from Wikipedia.
The shapes of leaves inspire me
Even now in the winter months that last too long
last too long - last too long - too long - too long.
Oh my hoyas in the windows gathering light.
Jade, Alocasia, Alocasia, Rhipsalis
Beautiful Rhipsalis
Lavishing mistletoe cacti just living on other plants without ever damaging them.
Some of my indoor garden for you to see!

Rivals the work of Laurie Anderson. Very cool.
It is crazy what you can do with Lucy. The Blessa Voices really adds a lot!
Well done!
Very well done. The clarity of the words is excellent too! I like the additional harmonies as well.
Fascinating experiment! Makes me want to try it. I guess the increasing prevalence of auto tune FX on actual human vocalists at one end of the spectrum and the advance of AI vocalisations at the other leads inevitably to a Venn diagram overlap somewhere deep in the uncanny valley. This is the future!
Thanks! high praise; not sure if Laurie would agree. Actually I did see her once many long decades ago but haven't kept up with her.
Yes, it's capable of some more human qualities; vibratos, bending pitches, etc. And you can sometimes hear her take a breath before a new phrase. As this kind of thing develops the voices will probably have more "body" and "personality".
Thanks for listening!
Thank you! I wrote the words out in case they didn't come through too well.
The Bleass helped I think and I want to try other effects in the future. They kind of mask the artificial quality.
Thanks for listening! Definitely in the uncanny valley. I would expect improvements in the future. It's kind of limited as far as expressiveness. It would be nice to turn a mod wheel and go from strong to delicate; sad to happy; etc.
Very brave to use Lucy, but the result is astonishing. Calm and relaxing, swirling streams in the background, minimalistic but deep, I like it. 👏
I appreciate your listening! Being able to add a voice and words might bring more depth to a piece. (if I can come up with words in the first place)
Very interesting track, thanks for posting 👍
I really like this. Lucy’s voice has something that I can’t quite describe. I am working on something that I think she might like. It’s extremely mellow, almost ambient, but has a definite structure that would work well with some stream of consciousness lyrics. It’s called Adrift. I will post this weekend and, if you’re interested, I would love to hear your take on it. No rush. If you’re busy with other projects, no problem. Nice track. Have a great day!
This is really great! Evokes a really specific emotion. Voices is such a killer app.
Is Pocket Singer the only think on iOS like this? I also have Speak Unit and the 4pockets apps but they’re more robotic.
Very nice. The voice is clear and well understandable. Sounds a bit too much robotic to my tastes. It is surprising because Pocket Singer, a free iOS app, sounds more natural (again to my tastes). I have done 3 songs using this app. The pronunciation is however less understandable...
Glad you heard it; I thought you might find it interesting.
Thanks! As others pointed out she's in the uncanny valley of voices. A little thin. I will listen to your new track; but I've also still been thinking about your track from a few weeks ago called Joy and Sorrow. I think I found some possible lyrics for it but haven't had a chance to test it out. In case you haven't noticed, my output is glacially slow; other work I must do, etc. But I look forward to trying.
thanks! yeah; voices really helped and I want to try other effects on it too.
I saw that; not sure about it. It looks like it has more variety of voices but not all suitable for English. But listen to the ones by @cuscolima below; they're pretty good.
Those all sound well done. The middle one seemed most easy to follow for me. The male voice seems pretty expressive but hard to understand. I'm looking forward to, I hope, inevitable improvements in these things. Deeper richer voices would be nice.
I understand completely. I am still working full time and I do this in what little spare time I can find. Patience is a virtue. I just set up Joy And Sorrow for download. Just click the three dots (…) and select Download File. You are free to do whatever you like. Have fun.
I’m still working on Adrift. It should be done sometime this weekend.
Thank you for this. I have pocket singer but haven’t properly dove in yet but I’m pretty impressed with this. I might work on that tonight.
3 very interesting tracks @cuscolima , I particularly liked Blend your life.
For some reason it reminded of an album I had in 1975 (as it turns out) by Julie Tippetts calls Sunset Glow.
Something about the vocals. Give it a listen if you can, there are a few tracks on YT
Thanks a lot @GeoTony, I just had a listen to Sunset Glow. It is a very nice album, I’m always amazed how such talented people have so few success (in term of audience number). I can find some similarities with my tracks but I don’t think my robotic Pocket Singer can compete again a true human voice at the emotional level…at least for the moment.
