  • No mention of AUv3? It would be nice as a 'MPE Midi Controller'

    Hmmm.. no option for strumming?

The word "swipe" in the app name certainly does suggest strumming, doesn't it?

  • Signed up.
The developer’s bs-16i is a longtime favorite workhorse for me.
    Looking forward to further developments.

  • I love BS-16. It’s my go to soundfont app and has been for years so definitely interested in this. Joined the beta, will start testing later tonight.

Yes, but tried the beta and can´t do that..... maybe I`m missing something?

  • It feels like a 6-string fretless bass… I’d like them to consider make the frets optional to avoid so many pitch issues when trying to tap out a precise melody. For lovers of “whale songs”, the delayed attack option makes for some excellent whale singing as you slide around and you can have multiple whales (one per string) and slide them together or independently.

I have;t tested to see if the pitch bending is implemented in the MIDI out stream… I hope it is but it would have to be an MPE-style implementation. MPE-light because @gavinski will jump in to explaine that MPE must have after touch and another cool feature that most MPE apps fail to deliver (I’m looking at you “Decent Sampler” but only because @gavinski won’t let me forget).

  • Yeah the fretless feel isn’t my favorite. It’d be nice to have the option to quantize the notes to frets and it would make chords easier to pull off and just feel more like a guitar

Using a typical MIDI keyboard solves this “fretless” issue. I tried the MIDI keyboard in AUM and it plays with excellent pitch.
Conversely, the fretless behavior is exported into AUM so that Decent Sampler plays the “whale song” melodies. So, both options are implemented but the “touch” interface is decidedly fretless. (Unless I’m missing an option to change the behavior).

I think the instrument that’s implemented is a quality instrument. I’d like to see them include more instrument choices on release or in an IAP offering. There’s a nice “Blooming” quality to the attack phase that makes me think of a fretless bass… a “ba-oo-AU-wa’ sound that implies a spectral sweep of the overtones.

  • This seems pretty cool. I’ve only been able to tap on notes but only tried it for a minute. Surprised No AU… gonna give it a spin and see how it goes.

    Thanks for sharing @ninobeatz

Really hoping this will become AU by time it hits the store as it could be really great for drones and such. Would love to see a hold or sustain function added. Using it to control various synths is really fun though, and it seems fairly stable so far.

I also noticed you can send each string out to a different channel individually which is pretty nifty.
