As I listen, I must say this is really nice and peaceful and relaxing. I do love flute music a lot.
lovely, thanks for sharing
That sounds fantastic. And what an interesting instrument! Is that a standard orchestral thing? Or some kind of ethnic instrument? Is it purely acoustic? I’ve been messing with tin whistles and melodicas lately, and I find myself drawn to vids of the deeper sounding things, like low D whistles and the larger recorders, or the possibilities offered by wind controllers. The tone of that thing is brilliant.
Update: Google is my friend:

£750 for a custom boutique instrument like that doesn’t seem - unreasonable? (Flip side: it’s just a length of copper pipe with a plastic mouthpiece, so materials costs don’t mount to much, but still… ) It looks like it is using Penny Whistle fingering?
This is the C instrument which is out of stock at the moment. They are priced depending on the complexity of the finish. Mine was under $500. The fingering is closest to xiao flute but the thumb hole is tuned differently. The notes going up are C D Eb E F G Ab A Bb. (I still kinda wish that top note was B like an xiao instead of Bb but haven't been able to sweet talk the maker into building me one like that. 🙃)
You mention low whistle - that's basically what I like about the Copper Flute. It lets me get that tonal range in a more ergonomic package. I had to sell my low D whistle because of finger stretch (I'm terrible at pipers grip) and arm reach issues
Love that flute. I paid for a flute on Etsy last year and got ripped off so I’m a little gun-shy now.
That stinks 🤬Etsy is usually good about siding with the buyer. I got ripped off on a bass ukulele a couple years ago by an independent maker in another country - no recourse.
But Eric is a good guy if you decide to try to get a Copper Flute.
Yeah, it's on me for not filing a complaint within the 100-day time window. But the maker seemed like a real human, and had made some good flutes for other people, so I believed his excuses for the delay and let it run past the window.
How hard is it to learn to play the copper flute (for a person who is a musician but with only minimal wind chops)?
I think it would be fairly easy to pick up. The fingering makes it easy to improvise in a number of different keys without thinking about it too hard. It's not quite fully chromatic so some things will be hard or impossible but it's still quite versatile. I have a series on my YouTube channel if you want to delve further. And I'll try to answer any specific questions.
Very nice and interesting to see new instruments 🪈
That is absolutely beautiful. It has such a unique sound. I wish I could find a synth patch that came close to it. Great video, too.
You can literally feel the wind carving the stones with the sand, fantastic! Love that instrument, perfect scale for this mood. Last few days I've been listening to flutes and searching for info about them, so finding someone right here is a godsend. Subscribed to your Youtube channel, wow 400+ videos, respect! 🤩
Thanks! 👊🏻 So many flutes, so little time 😝
