Two audio collages with samples from Public Domain movies and TV shows.
Here are 2 fun examples of audio collage made only with unprocessed samples from Memory Collection packs, no other instruments added.
The first part features foleys and sound effects sequenced in NanoStudio 2. I created a lively rhythmic sonic background that evolves into a Science Fiction atmosphere.
The second part is a funny parody ad. It’s a simpler collage and the images are screenshots from ads or TV shows featured in MC 10. Focus of the sounds is more on TV ads. There are some extra samples here, the voices saying "Memory Collection", "Memory Collection 10" and "Sounds from the past" were generated with a text-to-speech app.
Making a sample only collage is both simple and extreme. Simple as it is a collage, anything goes as long as it sounds good or funny to me. No special skills needed and does not require long hours of practice to master.
Extreme because of the limitations, only unprocessed samples are used and as I have a limited number, I may not have the one(s) I want or, when many samples are available, it may take time to find it. It has to fit by itself as I am not using other instruments or processors to transform it or fill the holes. Beginning the collage is easier than finding the ending.
Of course other uses are possible and fun for these samples. It’s a lot of fun to use one or more of them to spice or add a specific color to a “normal” track, or mangle then in granular samplers or FX processors to create new sounds!
