JWM & Richard Yot - Nobody (Take Deux)
Okay, so my last attempt at the collab was supposed to be something like TripHop, but I was hooked on the Justice sound (still am). So, this is my take on TripHop. Not even sure if it's TripHop to be honest, lol.
Synths featured are Hilda, Troublemaker, and Obsidian. Gated pads are two Korg Module Pros using synth strings 1 and choir oohs from the G128 pack. The lead guitar is from @richardyot . The breakbeat isn't a loop but rather one-shot samples programmed in a Dilla style. Produced in NS2.

Excellent! I like this better.
I agree. I like this version better too. No wobbly tape effects, no illegal sampling, just straight up fire breaks and bomb af raw synth power! @brambos is the man of the hour here. The main bass is Hilda gated by Perforator, and the secondary bass that's barely audible (on purpose) is Troublemaker. Perforator was also used to gate the string/choir pad.
I like the - lumpiness - of this. And the vocal, which has an 80s alt-synth band vibe to it, maybe something like Simple Minds back when they were still good?:
Also: love the breakdown.
This is one of your best! Props to both of you. Great job.
great tune !! Definitely not triphop but doesn’t matter .. reminds me stuff like Orbital or Future Sound of London .. i think this genre fits in more wide range of chillout/breakbeat .. great job !! Man you are really good, literally didn’t hear bad track from you as i remember, always top notch production 🫡
I’m with Paulie, so much more in this take. Good to see your mojo alive and kicking. @brambos tools was always my soft spot, restraining myself to glorify a guy, I don't want to corrupt and spoil him more than is necessary. 😎
And what did you do with @richardyot voice(?), sounds amazing! 🤩
Thank you so much bestie. That means a lot. @richardyot 's voice definitely has the 80s alt-synth band vibe to it, but when he said "Trip Hop" instead of "80 Synth Pop", I was like "oookay, I'll just make it in a Justice style". And that was a bit of a flop.
This round 2, I decided to try Trip Hop, but I don't know much about Trip Hop at all really. So it sounds something reminiscent of 90s Fatboy Slim high on acid. 😂
Daaaaang, Future Sound of London and Orbital comparison! I am humbled! 🫢 I grew up listening to both artists, first hearing these artists on the Mortal Kombat movie soundtracks. I love the first movie with all the campy, cheesy good fun. The second movie was rubbish. But both movies introduced me to these artists as well as Mutha's Day Out, KMFDM, Rammstein, Scooter (who was awesome in the 90s before implementing chipmunk voices), Juno Reactor, etc.
And well, if you want to hear a bad track from me from circa 2007-2008 in FL Studio...

(Is it any wonder I didn't win the remix competition with this shite remix? 🤣 With the vocals also being shite?)
Hahaha!
Well, a lot of what you hear was Richard Yot's own processing. All I added was this...
It's sounds great! I find it fits better with Richard vocal. Nice gating 👍
Thank you so much mate. I agree this is a better arrangement for Richard's vocals. ^_^ And the gating is due to Perforator, a top notch gating app.
Top arrangement
Cheers mate. Yeah I felt this one more than the first.
I like the music in this one a lot more than the last. I think the raw sounds make for a little more openness to the mix. I really like how the intro set up for a change at 0.22. Was a really, really cool change. Really had me head bopping. The vocal is still where I have the issue. The pitch issues are still there are really take away from what this song could be. On another vocal issue, that part where the vocal was great before (higher register, chorus?) is now buried in the mix and doesn't have the impact it had in the last arrangement.
Excellent context for Richard’s voice. I’d raise the volume at 2:25. It loses energy, to my ears, when the vol drops. Enjoyed this a lot. Production is awesome.
I can actually hear that now mate, lol. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.
Thank you so much mate. I think that's what @Ailerom was getting at in his reply.
And at last, I have an answer as to what genre I produced! It is indeed Trip Hop, but not the chilled out kind of Trip Hop but rather some sort of Big Beat/Alternative Dance ish. And I KNEW I heard this style before - Crystal Method! A good friend of mine finally made clear where the inspo came from subconsciously. I used to listen to Crystal Method all the time as a teenager! THAT is were the inspo came from!
