Looking for a good On-Screen-Keyboard AUv3
I wish it had MIDI-channel buttons and the keys at a glance. So that I can switch the channel/the destination with one tap. On my MIDI Arturia controller keyboard, I do this with a press of a button and the key with the channel I want to play on. Something useful like this, but for the screen … this is what I search for.
Maybe the Xequence AU Keys can do it, but I hesitate to buy it because I already have so many unused apps ...
The intention is to have a very minimized but playable AUM configuration on my iPad.
Comments
Xequence AU | Keys lets you switch the MIDI channel, however, it would be three taps (first to open the settings menu, then tap the MIDI channel, then close the menu again). 😬
Ah, okay. Thank you! Maybe I can assign a MIDI control to the channel switches...?
Sorry, no
All of the AU midi keyboards I have, have midi channel assignment in their preferences. If the midi channel is part of the state remembered in presets, you could save presets for different midi channels and midi control to recall preset for the channel you want to send to.
Can’t it be done in 4Pockets new Designer app?
If you have it, you could easily build a midiFX in Drambo, that could switch between midichannels and play it with the keyboard of your choice. I haven’t tried mapping the relevant slider, but suspect that‘s possible;).
An easier option here is to map scene B to channel 16 and then the MIDI-mappable scene slider can be used as a channel selector
Wouldn't that be a nice feature for a future update … ;-) ?
Absolutely! 😊
@Grandbear cool, even easier, cheers.
You could run the keyboard output through mfxStrip to change channels that way. Two taps, or link a knob to the AUv3 parameter.
Or run it through this Mozaic script if you have Mozaic.
You would think so, but no. The keyboard widget in Surface Designer doesn't have a button to change channels without going into the properties. There's no widget to translate midi channel coming through. There's no widget action that can change the keyboard channel or other control channels. 🤷🏼♂️
The keyboard in Surface Designer will evolve according to the developer though.
Yes I use mfx strip for this very thing and have presets set to each channel so I can use it with buttons I have setup in loopy pro to change the presets and change the channel. Also in AUM the same way with a controller… Also midi tools for iPad.
I’ve tried a lot of things obviously. Now I just have buttons to mute and unmute plugins in loopy pro thus also putting the plugins on standby and saving resources on things I’m not using. Works great!
